Guess what?! Our boy Crews has been adopted!!! 🥳

Crews now has a BIG family with three young kiddos, two other dogs (one of which is a 5-month-old puppy), two cats, and even chickens! He has a nice yard to play in and his new mom is looking forward to taking him on hiking adventures. There will be no shortage of playing, exercise, and outdoor time, and he’ll rarely be alone, which is exactly what I think he needs to thrive. 🖤

Meet Snowy! 😍 Snowy arrived at the SC shelter in December, abandoned, found by police, very thin, and estimated to be 1-2 years old. She gained weight but was sad and struggling in the shelter. She did great on her transport from SC, rode quietly, easily got in and out of vehicles, and was good with all the people. She’s been here a couple days and is starting to get more comfortable in her new environment, but she’s definitely a sensitive and cautious girl. She’s very quiet (haven’t heard a peep out of her yet), sweet, and gentle, and she hasn’t had a single accident inside yet.

At the SC shelter, she didn’t interact much with the other dogs when in the play yard, and would just sniff them and go her separate way. But I imagine this is just due to her cautious nature.

Snowy still needs some TLC - she has a few spots on her skin that need some healing and I’d like her to gain a few more pounds (she’s about 40lbs). Looking forward to seeing her blossom more! 🖤

Winnie went to the vet this week and was the best girl. She rode perfectly in the car, waited very politely in the lobby full of dogs and people, super tolerant of all handling, and literally closed her eyes with her head in my hand while the vet drew blood.

She was not feeling well over the weekend but she’s back to herself now thankfully. Her bloodwork was all good, and a cyst on her elbow was biopsied and is benign. 👏

Oh and she loves to lay in the sun! ☀️

Introducing Molly! 😍 Molly came to us because despite a lot of training and effort, she wasn’t getting along with the older dog in her home. Molly has some BIG feelings about other dogs, and needs to be the only pet. She’s working on her reactivity toward other dogs when out on walks.

Molly is friendly and sweet with people, tolerant of handling, crate trained, and potty trained! 👏 She knows several cues like sit, down, stay, place, drop it, heel, and kennel.

This girl is SUPER athletic! Muscular, fast, agile, very treat and toy driven. She would love a big, fenced-in yard and maybe even a chance to learn more skills on agility equipment. 😊

Molly’s looking for an experienced adopter who can continue her training and provide a stable routine for her. She’ll go home with a Ruffland kennel, kennel pad, raised cot, fluffy bed, tons of toys, etc.!

We have a few wonderful volunteers, and would love a few more! Looking for people who can come on a somewhat consistent basis and volunteer autonomously (after some training).

Things we could use help with:
✨ Giving dogs time out of their kennel suites - to go potty, play, cuddle on the couch, get lick mats, and/or walks. Some dogs really need the exercise and some prefer to snuggle.
✨ Working on training skills.
✨ Sweeping, dishes, laundry, window cleaning - this is a good option if you’d like to help but prefer not to directly interact with the dogs or don’t have experience with dogs.

We recently became a New Hope partner with Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) and set out looking for a senior to help. Sooo say hello to Winnie (FKA Kay) from Staten Island! 🖤

Winnifred is 9 years old (ish) and a chonky 60lbs. She’s friendly with people, reported to have previously lived with older kids, not reactive on walks, and walks loosely on leash. So far, she has been nothing but sweet and calm, but we’re of course giving her time to settle in and get to know her more. She’s currently on anxiety meds to help with all the recent transitions in her life, and will need some arthritis meds/supplements going forward.

This poor girl has entered the NYC shelter system FOUR times since 2018. 🥺 Let’s make this next adoption her last one, in her forever home out of the big city. 🖤

We have two new dogs coming into the rescue soon, both from overcrowded shelters. On top of the normal vet care, they both need some TLC, the senior girl is on meds, and I’ll want to add some supplements. (I also would love to help a very senior shepherd stuck in the shelter, but she requires a lot of medical care that we can’t quite cover yet).

Huge thank you to Mascoma Bank for gifting the rescue with $1,000! 🙏 This grant money will be used specifically for vet care for local dogs that come into our care. This will allow us to help local owner surrenders or found dogs who may need more vet care than the dogs coming from our great shelter partners.

And just like that, Melinda has been adopted! 🥰 Mel was somehow overlooked at the SC shelter for a year, despite being super sweet and good with everyone and everything, but she found her new home in NH after only three weeks here! She’s joining a family with lots of land, several people to love on her, and they’ve already stocked up on toys and lickmats. 🖤

The evolution of the logo... One night in 2012 while working third shift as a dispatcher, I doodled an outline on a small sticky note of all the dogs I had shared my life with throughout the years.

Later, I drew it on a larger piece of paper and scanned it to my computer. Then a few years later, I painted it on canvas and added another dog to the line up. In 2020, Illeete Designs turned it into a real logo!

And now it’s missing two more dogs. 😜
