Our Dixie Doodle has been adopted!! 🥳

Dixie, now Olive, went home a couple days ago, joining a very active family, and has been doing great settling in to her new place. She has a canine brother, Max, but getting a still picture of them together has apparently been challenging. 😋

I just know she’s going to love all the hiking, running, and time with her new people. 🖤

Looking for two weekend sleepover hosts for Yuri and Fiona! 🌙 🐕

Dates needed are Friday 11/6 or Saturday 11/7 AM through Sunday 11/8 PM.

Both are obsessed with people. Both are a bit too much for little kiddos. Yuri loves other dogs, but I’d prefer a solo sleepover for miss Fiona (or no one will sleep).

I’ll pack their food, treats, and toys, and provide a crate for Fiona. You provide the couch and movie marathon. 😊🍿🎥

Fiona would like me to remind everyone that though she loves us, she’s still not thrilled about being cooped up in a kennel suite and would MUCH rather be in a home.

I’ve figured out a decent med schedule to help combat her kennel stress, and have added more mental stimulation/enrichment, but it doesn’t beat living in a home environment where she can decompress more and thrive.

Based on recent interactions, I would say she could probably share a home with a calmer dog, but it would require a few visits to make sure it’s the right match. She’s just a LOT when she’s with other dogs, especially dogs that match her intensity and energy levels, and Fiona isn’t great at self-regulating and taking breaks. She’s just an overstimulated girlie (currently). 🥹

But she could also happily live as an only dog, soaking up all the human love and attention for herself. 😊

Yuri is German Shepherd and Husky, and in my opinion, the best of both breeds combined. 🖤

She loves her people, wants to be with you, is very affectionate, and excitedly whines like a shepherd when she sees you.

She has a friendly temperament, welcomes strangers, and talks like a husky. But unlike a lot of huskies, she doesn’t have a strong prey drive and isn’t an escape artist.

She’s a good mix of independent and wanting to be near you, and listens well. She aims to please, and is sensitive to angry tones and loud, reactive dogs.

She loves playing with other dogs! Shes an active girl but can also be a couch potato after a good walk or play session. She doesn’t need to pull sleds. 😋

Four active girls in the rescue means I am also very active right now. 🥱🫠

Today was a beautiful day for lunch break walks. Several turkeys ran across the road in front of Fiona and she was a little curious but didn’t make a peep. And her leash-walking skills are improving a lot! 👏

On a related note, if anyone loves to walk or jog or run, I know where you could borrow a companion. 😜

Huge thank you to Grover Gaming for donating an incredible $2,500 to the rescue!

Grover Gaming develops software, game content, and gaming systems and works with charitable gaming organizations, like our local Pellerins Event Center Bingo.

This donation was made in memory of my Great Aunt Marilyn, who passed away this winter. She was not only a pillar of the community and our family, but also of Pellerin’s Event Center. 🖤

This $2,500 will be SO helpful with vet expenses, monthly prevention, prescriptions, and food! 🙏
