We know many residents are concerned about Maye and are eager to help bring her home. We share that goal and understand how upsetting these situations can be for both the owner and the community.

One question we’ve received is why a humane trap has not yet been set. Traps are most effective when a dog has settled down to a specific area and is repeatedly returning to the same location. At this time, Maye has been reported in multiple areas throughout the city and continues to travel significant distances. Setting a trap before a dog has settled into a predictable area can be ineffective and may even cause the dog to move on before a successful capture can occur.

The current priority is gathering accurate sightings, identifying travel patterns, and allowing the dog to become comfortable in a consistent area. Once a pattern develops, a targeted trapping plan can be implemented if appropriate.

If you see Maye:
• Do not chase, call, whistle, or attempt to follow.
• Do not post sightings, please report them to the owner.
• Note the exact location, direction of travel, and time of sighting.
• Report the sighting immediately.

We appreciate everyone’s patience, cooperation, and concern as we work toward a safe recovery. Thank you to everyone who is helping keep an eye out, this community is amazing! 🐾🩷
