Iā€™m so grateful that the pasture sheā€™s in kept up like it did through the drought. Thereā€™s still plenty for her and the others to eat, and we shouldnā€™t have to start feeding hay until hopefully the end of November, as long as we get some rain here and there!

Panda is bred for an early February calf and sheā€™s bred to Titus. Iā€™m honestly hoping she has a little bull calf growing in her belly! Either way though, I canā€™t wait to see what she has and I pray itā€™s healthy.

As with anything good, thereā€™s always something badā€¦ šŸ˜•

As you all know, I posted pictures of #2208 Jezebelleā€™s baby boy yesterday and I honestly had no indications that there was anything wrong with the little guyā€¦ When I found him, he was laid over on his side with his back leg up in the air which I thought was peculiar but at the same time, he was laying with his back towards a bit of a downhill slope and I figured heā€™d just gotten himself stuckā€¦

I got him situated correctly and he stood up and his mama was licking all over him like a normal mama doesā€¦

She walked up in the top of the field and he followed right behind herā€¦

We had to leave for a few hours, but I didnā€™t expect anything bad even at that time.

When we got back to the farm, I went up in the field and set out a round bale for the big cowsā€¦ Jezebelle was up in the tree line with the little boy, but I couldnā€™t see anything wrong, and she came down to the feeder.

I went up after to check on the baby and there he was again, laid over with his leg up in the air, like heā€™d rolled down the hill againā€¦ ODD!

I got him situated back normal again and he seemed okay. He stood up, stretched, peed, and walked around a bit before he laid back downā€¦

It was getting late at this point, so I made my way back to my house.

Fast forward to this morning and I get a call from Papaā€¦ He says the calf is still acting silly - found laid over again, and this time barely movingā€¦

Papa brought Jezebelle and the baby down to the barn, and the little guy was laying normal, but didnā€™t look like heā€™d nursed since yesterdayā€¦ so Papa mixed a bottle up and fed him just a bit, which made him perk upā€¦

And within about an hour, the calf was deceasedā€¦ strangest thing weā€™ve come across this year, so farā€¦

I have a theory, but Iā€™m honestly at a loss. šŸ˜•

Weā€™re so happy to see this calf on the ground, healthy and ready to go! Jezebelle lost her calf last year (her first calf) so weā€™ve been praying for no complications and thanks to God, heā€™s here and we couldnā€™t be happier! šŸŒž

Our Story

Welcome to G&A Registered Angus. We are a small-scale cattle operation, located in Northeast Tennessee, focused on producing both registered and commercial seedstock. We currently run 30+ head of cattle, including our main herd sires, mature cows, bred and yearling heifers, and young calves. We began our journey with registered Angus cattle in December of 2014, and since then have hit many bumps in our road, but we are always pushing forward and looking to better both ourselves, as well as our operation.
