Meet a couple of shelter besties, Franklin & Rebecca!

We love when our pups find a friend that they can spend time with on their walks. Franklin & Rebecca have found each other.

These 2 have decided that it's better together when it comes to hanging out outside.

Franklin and Rebecca are both under 2 and have so much love to share with their new families.

Rebecca & Franklin did not come in together and do not need to be adopted together. But while they're at the shelter we will continue to make sure they get out for walks so they can keep enjoying each other's company. 😍

King, Rosa, Frick, Frack, Gnomeo, Jaxson, Starlight, and Rebel are the youngest pups at the shelter. They are ready to learn to sit, stay, and steal your heart!

These fun puppies are all under a year old. They have puppy energy and are ready to grow up with a family and become your best friend.

Eddy, Halal, Fizgig, Bernie, Handsome, Casper, Arnold, Lincoln, Sheila, Carl, Sailor and 7 kittens found their fur-ever homes!!! We wish you all the best!!!

We had such a great time at Kids' Day at the Burien Fire Department! So many families stopped by to say hello. Little Rosa got a lot of love and attention. She is a very chill pup who was not fazed by the crowds or noise. Get yourself to the shelter and adopt Rosa!

Thank you to all the kids and families who visited! It was wonderful to see all of you.

STATEMENT: We are deeply saddened to hear about the recent arrest of a man in Burien accused of harming kittens. We want to make it absolutely clear that these animals did NOT come from Burien CARES.

The individual admitted on the news that he obtained kittens for free from Craigslist, not from any shelter. Full story @ FOX 13 Seattle: https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/kitten-killing-suspect-arrested-burien

At Burien CARES, every adoption follows strict safeguards to protect animals. Every adopter is vetted and must present valid identification. We also do not adopt out multiple animals without review (never four; 4+ requires a city hobby license which can be verified through the City).

We are aware of false rumors being spread online, including by individuals who have admitted in writing directly that they intend to continue “harassing” Burien CARES. These threats and messages have been documented and forwarded to the proper authorities.

Our staff AND volunteers work incredibly hard every day for the animals of this community. To have a handful of people spread slanderous comments against that work is disheartening and it only takes away from the work and the animals who need us the most.

*** Once again, the man arrested did NOT adopt from us. ***

Adopt from shelters. Please don’t assume. Together, let’s protect the animals.

Let us introduce you to Tanner!

This handsome boy came to the shelter as a stray from Federal Way. His owner never claimed him and he is now looking for a new family.

Tanner loves his walks and is good on leash. He takes treats gently and is eager to learn. He's mastered "sit" and ready to learn more.
