After about four years of ups and downs, Whiskey’s first ever driving session after doing absolutely nothing but eating, sleeping, and existing for about a year. I cannot express how great it felt.

Thank you to Jen for allowing me to bring her up and giving me the platform to succeed. I’m excited for what this year has got in store for us.

Spent some time fixing up the arena. All lit up for late nights and the ground is much softer.

Now time to show off pony…Romeo came for more fine tuning and to further develop his neck rein.

I focused a lot on engagement and suppleness with him, developing a frame a little more appropriate for him conformationally and lifting the back. That extended trot is to die for 😮‍💨

Need to post some before and after of him! Flab to fab.

Where we ended off! With Stout my biggest focus was steering, body control, reach within the gaits and transitions. He is getting the hang of maneuvers, slow and steady wins the race. He’ll figure out where those big ol’ feet need to go in time.

I had a ton of fun working with him and his owners, along with their Gypsy Romeo who I will post soon. Can’t wait to continue with him next winter! I see a nice ranch horse out of this one.

We put the outside driveline on yesterday…we had some feelings. I wish I got it on video, because pictures look great, but video is honest about what it’s truly like. She thought that outside line was gonna eat her! But she settled down and got some direction changes in and forward with bend. You’ll get there Nakoma.

Magnawave is the coolest. We all know Vino struggles with a weak core and back and it’s been a long process getting her to try to engage. She has just become finally response to a belly lift with light finger tip pressure which is monumental.

We just got our magnawave back from maintenance and I decided to do a couple late night sessions out of excitement. Using the large loops I will place it so it lifts the back and core, and it showed me where that back is supposed to be! I think things are looking up for this old mare.

What has Nakoma been up to?

We are now mixing it all together to introduce driving. She’s carrying the bit well and accepting of the surcingle! Introduced the inside rein today to build up to the next phase. She handled it all well. Plus we decided to try and come into the tack room with me the other day so that says a lot about her trust developing.
