We provide a safe, loving refuge for homeless and surrendered dogs and cats, powered by volunteers and donations. What Else We Do: We seek to place pets in forever homes where they will be part of the family. Where possible, we treat them for parasites, injuries, and illnesses. We educate adopters about how to be responsible pet owners. In addition to caring for animals needs,

much of the construction, repairs and grounds maintenance is also a job for our volunteers, as well as performing all the tasks of running a shelter such as answering the phone and keeping records. Volunteering at BAHS is a great character-building experience.

FOREVER HOME UPDATE

Cadbury and Tootsie are living their very best lives with Michelle and Steve Richards.

In their own words, they are thriving, and that does our hearts so much good.
We all need a little joy and happiness, and this is exactly that.

A special thank you also to Brandy for fostering these precious little ones and helping them on their journey to finding the perfect home.

And to Michelle and Steve, thank you for opening your hearts and home to Cadbury and Tootsie. We wish your family many years of love, laughter, and wonderful memories together.

Every adoption represents a new beginning, not just for the dog, but for the family welcoming them home. We couldn't be happier for these pups and their adopters.

Jitterbug is a handsome buff-and-white boy, born in April 2025, with a heart every bit as special as his story.

At a very young age, Jitterbug became seriously ill with non-neurological FIP. His future was uncertain, but this brave little fighter never stopped fighting. Thanks to loving care and treatment, Jitterbug has healed and is now ready for the happy life he deserves.

He does still have the sweetest little jiggle in his walk—a tiny reminder of everything he overcame—but don’t let that fool you. Jitterbug doesn’t slow down one bit. He is playful, curious, funny, and full of life. He loves exploring, playing with other cats, and turning everyday moments into entertainment.

More than anything, Jitterbug is simply the sweetest boy. He has a gentle, affectionate personality that makes people fall in love with him almost instantly. If you’re looking for a cat who will happily soak up attention and remind you every day how special rescue cats are, Jitterbug may be your perfect match.

Big news from our BAHS family! Our beloved Roper (now known as Nelson) has taken to the skies! Our former volunteer-turned-family, Lindsay, flew down from Colorado just to whisk him away to his forever home! And guess what? Nelson is now joining one of our alumni superstars—One-Eyed W***y! These two boys are about to be the dynamic duo of Colorado. Nelson rocked his very first plane ride yesterday and is already stealing hearts in his new home. Happy tails, Nelson! We can’t wait to hear about all your adventures with your new big brother!

Someone is missing out on a really good dog.

The question is: who?

Maggie loves spending time with people, enjoys outdoor adventures, and knows how to relax when the day is done.

For more than 1,000 days, she's been ready to be someone's hiking partner, sidekick, and best friend.

We're hoping the person who's meant for Maggie sees this post.

Forever Home Update: Tutti Frutti ❤️

We absolutely love receiving updates from our adopters, and this one made us smile from ear to ear!

Tutti Frutti is doing wonderfully in her forever home. Her family shared that she has settled in beautifully and has become a cherished member of the household. She loves lounging in the windows, watching the world go by, and spending time with her family.

She has also decided that she is, in fact, a dog. She prefers drinking from the dogs’ water bowl, occasionally helps herself to a snack from their food dishes, and keeps all of her canine siblings on their toes. Her family says she has quite the personality and brings laughter to their home every day.

One of the sweetest parts of this update is hearing how patient and gentle she is with their six-year-old. The bond they have formed is truly heartwarming.

Seeing former shelter pets happy, loved, and thriving in their forever homes is what makes all the hard work worthwhile.

A huge thank you to Tutti Frutti’s wonderful family for opening their hearts and home to this special girl. We are so grateful that you chose adoption and are giving her the life she deserves.

Happy tails, sweet Tutti Frutti! We couldn’t be happier for you. ❤️
