If you’re wondering how to feed your dog a BARF model raw diet…I highly suggest raw feeding guide. We began feeding this diet using their guide and I couldn’t have done it any other way. Why does my dog eat p**p?! 🤢 I get this question on occasion and while it’s definitely so gross for us, it’s usually harmless to them. But by doing this gross habit, they can be trying to tell you something…

P**p eating can be either a dietary or behavior issue.

🐾Dietary…
Dogs have a way of knowing how to help themselves. It’s been instilled in them for many generations, way back before they were domesticated, all the way to their wolf ancestors.

Their body can be telling them to digest something in the p**p that is missing from their diet, like digestive enzymes which helps with nutrient absorption. Rabbit p**p for instance is very rich in enzymes as well as B vitamins. It has high amounts of microbes necessary to regenerate beneficial bacteria in the gut.

You can help your dog by ditching the processed kibble and feeding a raw diet, along with giving a digestive enzyme supplement.

🐾Behavioral…
P**p eating can also be a behavioral issue if they are being punished for p**ping which can cause them to think p**p itself is bad so get rid of the evidence.

It can also be caused by boredom or anxiety.

To help, be sure to not scold when they p**p, even if it’s in the home. If they have an accident, immediately bring them outdoors to the grass and tell them to go potty.

Give your dog lots of physical activity and mental stimulation. Giving raw meaty bones can help with mental stimulation as well as be a great natural toothbrush.
