This rain we have had over the summer has been amazing for our pastures, but so many can’t ride in their arenas due to it.

Thankfully, our arena was built with that exact problem in mind. It took us a year to finish it, but so worth the effort.

It has a quality packed base with only “good” dirt. Within that dirt, drainage pipes were laid to create a French drain system! The real magic is that it has 8” of m10 to soak up and drain the water load off underneath the angular river sand as footing!!

We ride in the rain and after the rain. Even the heavy rains! It’s not deep, slick, or dangerous after a heavy rain.

We are beyond blessed to have such a quality and safe usable arena despite the Georgia weather. Huge thanks to my husband, Robert, for installing it for us!

What a beautiful beginning to our week.

New horse, Stormy, settled in and is here to find his forever person. Fingers crossed he has already!!

Glory has settled in great already as well!! She’s moved down from the beautiful Colorado with her owner!

New hay arrived and it’s beautiful. 🤩

Then this gorgeous sunset came this week and I can’t help but be thankful to have seen it.

Huge thanks to the secret Christmas elf who keeps gifting the barn lesson horses with huge jugs of fly spray!!! I haven’t pinned down who to thank yet, but THANK YOU!

It’s rare that lesson barns and junior riders retire their horses. We are incredibly blessed to have retired Perfekt here and get to see him daily.

He’s a legend of a horse. Not only did he take my daughter from 2’ to 3’6”, but he also did IHSA, IEA, and taught lessons here before he fully retired. That’s all after his Grand Prix jumper career!

He will be 29 in the spring. He enjoys turn out with his bestie daily, his alfalfa hay, his windows, his cookies, his grooming and bathing, etc.

Is he expensive to retire? Yes. Is it a privilege? Also yes. Absolutely. Zero regrets.

We ventured out yesterday bright and early at 7:15 to school for the first time at Ashland Farm! It’s so beautiful and we are so excited to go back in July.

We had 7 horses go and schooled XC, Stadium, and Dressage. Thankful for the ladies who made sure riders always had cold water, students who displayed wonderful horsemanship, and Ashland for such a beautiful and shady facility.

Lots of NEW! New lease horses. New location schooling. New fence heights. New dressage tests. New challenges on courses. Very educational and LOADS of fun! 🤩

Madilyn & Sarah took their horses to GDCTA Area III camp at Stable View in Aiken last week.

They were able to clinic and audit that week with international riders. Daily dressage lessons with all different trainers as well as stadium, XC, Q&A sessions, lectures, a XC demonstration with Waylon Roberts, and auditing all of the other sessions.

Many new exercises, techniques, analogies, and tools in their tool boxes. The horses learned a lot as well.

Thanks to everyone who helped hold down the farm while Sarah traveled.

Thanks to GDCTA for hosting a great week. Stable View was a great experience.

Had SO much fun with Laura Holcombe, Madilyn, Montse, and Anna Wilson. We went to Poplar for the schooling show. Vallencio was amazing. Very good boy!! Turbo and montse were too. 2nd in dressage and 5th in O/F. Too slow. Hehehe. Pari Rock was the only horse clear in her division. Iris got her first ever tummy ache….at a show! Ruined the show experience, but Anna handled ot well!! She’s ok now, but definitely ate a ton of hay and didn’t drink enough water. Her soaked feed, Salt, electrolytes , and hand walks weren’t enough apparently!

Proud of them all. Way to go!!
