Just a 13-year-old gentleman enjoying his boba break. 🧋🐱

Alvin found the purr-fect spot to hang out in our cat-specific exam room! Our feline friends have their own special spaces at Summit, complete with fun touches like these boba tea scratchers to encourage exploring, scratching, and getting comfortable. Because the little things can make a big difference in helping cats feel more at home at the vet. 💜

Our Meet the Team series is your chance to get to know the friendly faces behind Summit Veterinary Care. Whether they've been with us for years or are newer to the team, each person brings compassion, expertise, and heart to everything they do.

Today, we're excited to introduce you to Talaya, one of our wonderful Veterinary Assistants! ✨

Talaya identified as a cat person for a long time, until she held her first-ever dog, a Boston Terrier named Bruin. since then, she has always worked with animals. Her first ever job in high school was working as a kennel assistant. From there, she gained experience working at grooming facilities, dog daycare facilities, veterinary offices, and even the county shelter. She took animal science classes as she was finishing her schooling, which only drove her love and interest in the field further. Since then, Talaya's love and care for those who needed it has expanded to included every canine and feline patient that comes her way. Talaya's colleagues describe her as compassionate, kind, empathetic, and whimsical.

🌟 Fear Free Spotlight: Meet Muffin! 🌟

Muffin, a 4-year-old Rottweiler, has definitely earned her Certificate of Bravery! 💜 She had a successful visit with Dr. Kirk for her wellness exam and rabies vaccine update, and we couldn’t be prouder of her.

Christina, LVT, & Rosanna, LVT, have been working with Muffin through our Confidence Building Visits, using conditioning and cooperative care techniques to help her feel more comfortable and confident at the vet. Muffin's visit was a wonderful reminder that patience, trust, and teamwork can make a big difference!

Every pet deserves to feel safe, supported, and celebrated during their veterinary visits. Way to go, Muffin! We think you’re pretty pawsome. 🐾

🎃 Happy Halloween! 👻 Our team’s pets are ready to show off their Halloween looks, and we couldn’t resist sharing some of our favorite four-legged trick-or-treaters!

While costumes make for adorable photos, your pet’s comfort always comes first. Here are a few tips for a safe and happy Halloween:

🐾 Keep costumes comfortable. Make sure your pet can see, breathe, walk, and move freely. If they seem stressed, uncomfortable, or try to wiggle out of their costume, skip it! A happy pet doesn’t need a costume to join the fun!

🍬 Keep the candy out of paw’s reach. Chocolate, xylitol (found in some sugar-free treats), and other Halloween goodies can be dangerous for pets.

🚪 Watch the door. Frequent trick-or-treaters can mean extra opportunities for curious pets to slip outside. Keep them secure and make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

🐈 Give them a quiet retreat. If the costumes, doorbells, and spooky sounds become too much, a cozy, quiet space can help your pet feel safe.

Her true passion lies in being a voice for animals of all sizes, from the tiniest kittens to the largest dogs, and she is deeply committed to continuing her growth in the veterinary field. She actively seeks opportunities to expand her knowledge, whether through formal education or hands-on experience, and is always eager to improve her skills for the benefit of the animals and the people she serves.
