🐾 Why does my pet need an exam before vaccines?

At Legacy, physical exams aren’t an “extra” — they’re an essential part of safe, high-quality care for every patient. In Kentucky (and most states), a physical exam is legally required to establish a Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) before any vaccines, preventatives, or treatments can be given.

During an exam, our doctor will:
✅ Check heart and lung sounds
✅ Take temperature and vital signs
✅ Examine eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, skin, and coat
✅ Assess weight and body condition
✅ Make sure your pet is healthy enough for vaccines or medications
