Your dog’s nose has more than just a good sense of smell going on — it’s basically a tiny fingerprint, a high-powered chemical a**lyzer, and a weather station all in one. Here are five weird dog facts you probably didn’t know, with Love the pitbull showing off her rasta tie-dye bandana to prove that dogs come in all kinds of colors and patterns.

The Terms and Conditions at Vroom Grooms LLC state that your dog’s name and photos may be used in advertising, videos, social media, and the website. The Wacky Wednesday series celebrates the strange, surprising, and slightly absurd facts about dogs that come up in the van. This week, five facts that you probably did not know – and that are absolutely true.

🚐 Rolling through NW Ohio with a van full of love and belly rubs! 🥰

Today’s Vroom Grooms route was absolutely incredible. There is never a dull moment in the van, and today brought such a sweet variety of furry friends.

Meet today’s wonderful pack:

🐾 Millie (Mini Aussie Doodle): This sweet lady kicked off our day with her gorgeous marbled coat. She was a little nervous at first, but some reassurance (and a few tabletop spins!) helped her settle right in.

🐾 Winston (Cream Terrier Mix): Millie’s handsome brother! He would honestly rather cuddle the whole time, and I don't blame him. His little underbite smile is a total heart-stealer! 🥺

🐾 Kip (Beagle Mix): Welcome back, Kip! We are SO happy to see him healing up beautifully after having a cancerous tumor removed. Dogs are so resilient, and Kip is proof of that. 💪

🐾 Honey (Papillon Mix): The perfect end to the day! This little doll absolutely stole our hearts with tiny rainbow bows tied in her fringed ears. 🌈

Thank you to all the amazing pet parents who trust me with their best friends!

Welcome back to the Vroom Grooms LLC blog! Rolling across Northwest Ohio today brought such a sweet variety of furry friends into the van. There is never a dull moment on the route, and today was absolutely full of love, belly rubs, and a few extra cuddles for good measure.

Here is a look at today’s wonderful pack:

Millie the Mini Aussie Doodle

The day kicked off with a beautiful duo, starting with Miss Millie! This sweet little lady has the most wonderful marbled coat, and she was just as sweet as could be. Millie was a little nervous at first, but a couple of tabletop spins and some reassurance and she settled right in. Looking at that marbled pattern and that gorgeous smile is a perfect way to start any Tuesday.

Winston the Cream-Colored Terrier Mix

Next up was her handsome brother, Winston! This cream-colored terrier mix would honestly rather just cuddle the whole time he is in the van, and I cannot blame him one bit.

Today started with a sweet duo, Millie the mini aussie doodle and her brother Winston the cream-colored terrier mix. Then it was Kip the beagle mix (welcome ...

Last week's Tuesday post covered regular potty breaks throughout the day, and mentioned Sweet Home Pet Service for those midday hours when you cannot be home to let the dog out. This Tuesday is a quick reminder of the same message: regular potty breaks save you trouble later. They prevent accidents, prevent medical issues, prevent behavioral problems, and keep the dog comfortable. They are a small habit that pays off in big ways.
The Quick Recap
A dog that gets regular potty breaks throughout the day is a dog that:
- Has fewer accidents in the house
- Has a lower risk of urinary tract infections and other bladder issues
- Has a lower risk of constipation and a**l gland issues
- Is more comfortable during the day and less reactive to small stressors
- Trains more easily for potty behavior
- Shows up to grooming appointments in a more relaxed state
None of those benefits are dramatic on their own. All of them add up to a dog that is healthier, more comfortable, and easier to live with.

Please take a moment to read this thoughtful perspective from a fellow groomer.
Caring for curly and high-maintenance coats takes immense skill, time, and physical effort—there are no shortcuts to keeping these pups healthy and comfortable! Grooming is truly a partnership between pet parents and professionals. That’s why we share our care policies and ask you to work alongside us with regular at-home maintenance and consistent appointment schedules. When we work together, your pup gets the best care possible! 🐾✨

🐾 A little Matted or Knot update…🐾

If/when I decide to reopen my books to new clients, I’ve made the decision that I will no longer be accepting ANY new doodle breeds. ✨This includes established clients as well who get a NEW pup- *not ones I currently groom*.✨

Goldendoodles, Bernedoodles, Labradoodles, Aussiedoodles, Sheepadoodles, Cavapoos, Cockapoos—or any of the other countless “oodles.” This isn’t directed at one particular mix, and it’s certainly nothing personal against the dogs themselves. This is a strict business decision and after 17 years behind a grooming table, I’ve earned the right to make decisions based on what is sustainable for both my business and my body.

Doodle coats are incredibly labor-intensive. Bathing, drying, brushing, prep work, clipping and sc******ng take time—and unfortunately, what that time and physical labor is actually worth doesn’t always align with what people are realistically willing to pay.

And there’s another side of this that applies to grooming in general:

You’re not just paying me for the hour your dog is on my table. You’re paying for the YEARSSSSS it took me to learn how to safely, professionally and proficiently get your dog groomed in that hour.
I’ve actually had people surprised that I can finish their dog in an hour and question whether that means I wasn’t thorough. (Not doodles specifically)

“Ma’am… I’m not rushing. I’m experienced.”🫠😅

Seventeen years of handling thousands of dogs teaches you how to work efficiently without sacrificing quality or safety. Expertise shouldn’t become less valuable because experience allows someone to do something faster.

And yes…“Susie” down the street may do it cheaper. By all means, there’s the door. I will never compete to be the cheapest groomer. I compete with the groomer I was yesterday.
At this stage of my career, protecting my hands, wrists, shoulders and back matters. My body is part of the equipment that keeps this business running.

And while we’re here, one more PSA:

PLEASE start your puppies with professional grooming early!!!

Once they’ve received their rabies vaccination, typically around 16 weeks, start getting them acclimated. Please don’t wait until 6, 8 or 10 months old when they desperately need their first haircut. Those early appointments teach them that the bath, dryer, clippers, nail trims, brushing, handling and grooming table are normal. This is especially important when you choose a dog that will require professional grooming every 4–8 weeks for its entire life.

At the end of the day:

Having a dog is a privilege.
Professional grooming is a luxury.
And experience has value. 🐾💞✨

Welcome back to our daily grooming blog! Today, Nicole had a beautifully full schedule, spending quality time with some truly special pups. From gentle seniors needing a little extra TLC to a giant, lovable goofball, here is our fantastic lineup for today's doggy spotlight!

Milo the Shih Tzu

First up on the grooming table was our sweet senior, Milo.

- Breed: Shih Tzu

- Vibe: Distinguished older gentleman learning to trust.

- Today's Visit: Milo has been showing some signs of being uncomfortable during his sessions lately, but Nicole always makes sure to take things slow and give him the extra time and patience he needs to feel secure. The most heartwarming part of his visit? This sweet ol' boy now comes right up to greet Nicole when she arrives! That growing bond is exactly why we love what we do.

Marshall & Charlie

Next, we welcomed a dynamic duo who know exactly the way to our hearts: snacks!

🐾 Dogs of the Day: Monday, August 24th! 🐾

We had such a wonderful lineup in the salon today, featuring some sweet seniors and a whole lot of personality! Here are today's superstars:

🐶 Milo the Shih Tzu
Our sweet senior boy! Milo has been feeling a little uncomfortable during his grooms lately, but Nicole always makes sure to give him all the extra time and TLC he needs. The absolute best part of today? He now comes right up to greet her! 🥰

🐕‍🦺 Marshall & Charlie
Name a better duo... we’ll wait! Marshall (Labrador) is an older gent who was feeling his age a bit today, but his spirits lifted the second the snacks came out! His sidekick Charlie (Boston Terrier) is the sweetest shy girl—and just as food-motivated! 🦴❤️

🐺 Cayman the Shiloh Shepherd
We rounded out the day with this massive, lovable goofball! Cayman just needed a quick nail trim and a tidy-up for his paw fluff. Nicole spent the whole session laughing—she enjoys every single second with this happy boy! 😂
