🚨 Foxtails: A Hidden Summer Danger for Dogs & Outdoor Cats 🚨

As we spend more time outside enjoying the warm weather with our pets, it’s important to watch out for foxtails—those barbed grass seed heads that can cause serious harm to dogs and outdoor cats.

Foxtails don’t just stick to fur—they can burrow into ears, noses, paws, eyes, and even under the skin. Once embedded, they can migrate deeper into the body and cause infections, abscesses, or worse.

Signs your pet may have a foxtail lodged: 🐾 Persistent licking or chewing at one spot (especially paws)
🐾 Head shaking or pawing at the ears
🐾 Sneezing or nasal discharge
🐾 Red, swollen eyes or squinting
🐾 Sudden limping or discomfort

🛑 Foxtails are not just irritating—they can be life-threatening if left untreated.
If you suspect your pet has encountered foxtails, contact your vet right away.

Tips to protect your pet:
✔️ Avoid overgrown grassy areas during walks
✔️ Check paws, ears, face, and fur after outdoor time
✔️ Keep fur trimmed short—especially around feet and ears
