Story Time ✨🐾 Meet Bourbon
Bourbon arrived at the Pup Sitter ranch with quiet strength, his soulful eyes carrying stories of both struggle and resilience. He had lost his front right leg to bone cancer, and the battle had left him weary. The chemotherapy took its toll, and though his spirit remained unbroken, his body needed time to catch up.
From the moment he stepped onto the ranch, something unspoken passed between him and I. I, too, had fought my own battle against cancer and emerged stronger. Our meeting felt destined...two souls who understood each other’s pain, both seeking solace and renewal.
Each Reiki session became a sacred moment. As my hands hovered over Bourbon, warmth and light seemed to flow between them. His breathing would slow, his body relaxing as the nausea and fatigue ebbed away. And with every session, something shifted, not just in Bourbon, but in me, too. I felt lighter, stronger, as if his healing mirrored my own.
Over time, Bourbon grew steadier on three legs, finding his balance in a way that was nothing short of inspiring. He no longer mourned what he had lost but embraced what remained. He ran, he played, and with every visit, he showed me that survival was not just about enduring...it was about thriving.
One day, as Bourbon rested in the sun, I knelt beside him, running my fingers through his fur. “You taught me something,” I whispered. “That we don’t need everything we once thought we did. We are whole, even in our loss.”
Bourbon lifted his head, nudging my hand with his nose. He understood.
As the seasons changed, so did they. Bourbon left the ranch healthier, his spirit soaring, while his I stood a little taller, my heart fuller. We had healed together, bound forever by a lesson in resilience, love, and the undeniable power of second chances.
