This Baxter Video Memory is from March 24, 2016. I wrote this on that day: "We're picking out shirts to wear to tonight's Tommy James & The Shondells concert at the Snoqualmie Casino in Snoqualmie, Washington. I think Baxter likes the "Crimson & Clover" shirt! I wish he could go with us, but the casino says no dogs!" At this time Bax was 11 years old. See you in Heaven Sweet Baxter (January 13, 2005- January 20, 2021)

A few years ago, Baxter and I met another Beagle that looked a lot like Baxter! Of course Baxter has spots (that they call ticking) on his neck.

Here's a very cute picture of Baxter from 2012. Bax would put his paw on my arm to tell me he wanted to go for a walk or wanted a treat! In the picture, you can see that his left eye was cloudy and swollen. Bax developed glaucoma in his eye and had to have that eye removed in 2013 because of complications in the eye. The pressure from the glaucoma would cause him to have headaches. In 2012, Bax was 7 years old.

🐾 POEM OF A DOG
I'm the one who's always waiting for you.
Your car has a special sound that I have imprinted on my senses, I can recognize it in a thousand.
Your steps have a magic bell.
Your voice is music to my ears.
If I see your joy, it makes me happy!.
Your scent is the best.
Your presence moves my senses.
Your waking up wakes me up
I contemplate you sleeping and for me you are my Love, I am happy watching your sleep.
Your look is a ray of light.
Your hands upon me, hold the lightness of peace and the sublime display of infinite love.
When you leave, I feel a huge void in my heart.
I keep waiting for you again and again.
I am the one who will wait for you all your life today, tomorrow and forever:
I am your dog.

"Sirius is known colloquially as the "Dog Star", reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (the Greater Dog). The heliacal rising of Sirius marked the flooding of the Nile in Ancient Egypt and the "dog days" of summer for the ancient Greeks, while to the Polynesians, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, the star marked winter and was an important reference for their navigation around the Pacific Ocean." This Baxter Memory is from 4 years ago, December 21, 2019. On that day I wrote: "Today Baxter and I went to his favorite pet store- Pet Pros. We knew a gentleman who draws caricatures was going to be there. This is what he drew as Baxter sat on my lap! Wow, talk about exaggeration! A caricature is a picture, description, or imitation of a person in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect!"

I posted the following thoughts on March 9, 2021. That was a month and a half after Baxter crossed the Rainbow Bridge as he went to Heaven on January 20, 2021: "Thanks to Jackie Ross for asking how things are going now for me with the loss of Baxter! This caused me to write out some of the details of my life with Baxter. Jackie said she didn't think she could go through the loss of the dog she has now. I wrote this back to her: "thank you, yes I don't think I could go through the loss of another dog. Baxter and I had a very special connection. I went through a divorce when Baxter was two. I wasn't sure I would see Bax again. When my ex-wife initially got him I was upset. We both worked fulltime and lived in a condo. I didn't think it was right to leave a puppy in a condo all day. Plus, I had never realized one could get so bonded with a pet. So from 2007 to 2016 she had Baxter fulltime, I got him whenever I could or she needed a dogsitter. But it was very apparent that Baxter and I had a very special bond, and we both missed each other. In June of 2016, my ex-wife had some medical problems and she wanted me to have Bax. So for the last 4 1/2 of Baxter's life I was retired and he and I would do everything together. We would walk together 2 hours a day, that's when I took all of the pictures and videos I have of him. The last almost 2 years of his life, he went through so many tough times, a dog attack, fighting cancer, and 2 vestibular episodes. He lost his left eye in 2013 due to glaucoma complications, and he lost his right eye due to a cancerous tumor in December of 2020. The sweet little guy would always bounce back from his physical setbacks. But eventually the cancer was too much to overcome. The night he went to Heaven, he had a seizure and we mercifully put him to sleep. I am so grateful that he was in my life. He is a very special dog! I pray I will be with him one day in Heaven."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnz_P8Cu3R4 This video was taken 4 years ago, just before Christmas, on December 20, 2019. At that time Bax was almost 15 years old. Baxter had his left eye removed in 2013 due to glaucoma complications. On November 13, 2020, Baxter's right eye was getting attacked by melanoma coming through his eye socket. In the first week of December, the poor little guy had his right eye removed too. He went through so much, but his will to live and love of life kept him going! At the end, Bax was fighting cancer, he now was blind, and he just experienced a seizure. I didn't want my friend to suffer anymore. The sweet boy crossed the Rainbow Bridge on January 20, 2021, at age 16! I love you Baxter and I will see you again one fine day in Heaven!!!
