They found the man first.
Then they realized the dog was still alive.

Friends, this happened in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. A 71-year-old hiker named Richard Moore went out alone and never came back. Days passed. Then weeks. The trail disappeared under snow. The mountains stayed quiet, like they always do. ā›°ļø

By the time rescuers reached him, more than ten weeks had passed. It was February 2023. Hypothermia had taken him. Cold. Final. The kind of ending the mountains don’t explain. 🄶

But then something moved.

Curled close by was his dog, Finney. A small Jack Russell terrier. Still breathing.
She was skin and bones. Nearly half her weight gone. No food. No shelter. No people. Just elevation, weather, and time. Somehow, she endured. Hunting when she could. Resting when she had to. Holding on in a place that doesn’t forgive mistakes. šŸ•

Here’s the part that changes everything.

Finney didn’t leave. She didn’t wander downhill looking for help. She stayed. Through storms. Through hunger. Through long, empty days. Not because she understood what had happened. But because staying felt right. šŸ’›

Finney was rescued, treated, and later brought into a new home. Life kept moving. It always does.

But that mountain kept the truth.

Sometimes love doesn’t rescue anyone.
Sometimes it just refuses to go away.

And maybe that’s enough.

Please be aware…

I want to post this so people are aware.

We lost our dog after she ate rotisserie chicken from Costco. Someone gave her a few small pieces. It seemed harmless at the time. It’s something people eat every day, and no one thought it could cause serious harm.

Later that night, she started acting uncomfortable. She couldn’t settle, kept pacing, and looked restless. By morning, she wouldn’t eat and struggled to stand. Something was clearly wrong.

We took her to the vet as fast as we could. The vet explained that rotisserie chicken can be very dangerous for dogs. The seasoning, grease, and small cooked bones can upset their system, cause internal problems, and lead to serious complications. In her case, her body just couldn’t handle it.

She passed away that same day.

There was no warning that this would happen so quickly. That’s why I’m writing this. Many people don’t realize that food meant for humans, especially heavily seasoned or fatty foods, can be dangerous for dogs — even in small amounts.

Please don’t give dogs rotisserie chicken or table scraps, even if they beg or seem fine afterward. What seems small and harmless can turn into something tragic very fast.

I hope this helps someone avoid the same loss šŸ’”šŸ’”šŸ’”

Anyone remember Esther? 🌈

For years, research has confirmed pigs rank among the most intelligent animals on the planet, surpassing not only dogs but also many young children in cognitive abilities.

They have demonstrated impressive long-term memory, spatial navigation skills, object recognition, and problem-solving abilities.

Beyond 'tested intelligence,' pigs experience a wide range of emotions and display signs of empathy and bonding, revealing emotional intelligence rarely acknowledged in farmed animals.
