💔🐾 AFTER 4 AMAZING YEARS, IT’S TIME TO SAY GOODBYE. 🐾💔

This is a post I never imagined I would have to write.

After four years of pouring my heart into A Pawsitive Start Pet Rescue, I have made the heartbreaking decision to stop accepting new intakes effective immediately and permanently close our rescue at the end of this year.

Over the past four years, more than 1,000 cats have received veterinary care and been removed from our surrounding communities, with even more than 1,000 cats spayed or neutered. ❤️

That’s thousands of lives impacted, countless unwanted litters prevented, and so many precious souls given a chance at a better life.

And none of this would have been possible without YOU.

To everyone who donated, adopted, fostered, transported, volunteered, shared a post, offered encouragement, or helped in ways you may not even realize — THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

Whether you helped save one life or a hundred, you made a difference. Every single act of kindness mattered. 🐾

This decision has not come easily. The financial burden of rescue, especially the rising costs of veterinary care, has simply become more than we can sustain.

My heart will always want to save just one more. And that is what makes walking away so incredibly difficult.

I may be closing the doors to the rescue, but I will never forget the lives we saved, the people who stood beside us, or the love that made it all possible.

Four years of heartbreak, happiness, sleepless nights, tears, and unforgettable moments.

We didn’t save them all, but for the ones we did, we changed their entire world. ❤️

And for that, I will forever be grateful.

We made a difference. Together. 🐾❤️

With all my love and gratitude,

A Pawsitive Start Pet Rescue

💕 From a rough first night to a whole new kitten! 🐾

Day 2: Cone only! No more kennel, and our sweet Gemma was already feeling better, playing, and showing us her little personality again. 💗

Day 3: NO cone. NO kennel. Just one HAPPY kitten! 🎉🐱

I swear, she is like a completely different kitten! Watching her run around the back of the couch, playing without a care in the world, absolutely melts my heart. 🥹❤️

After everything this little girl has been through, seeing her comfortable, carefree, and full of life is EVERYTHING.

No more struggling through the night. Just a happy little girl enjoying being a kitten again. 💕

THIS is why we rescue. 🐾❤️

💔🐾 Gemma’s First Night of Recovery… Not the Update I Had Hoped to Share. 🐾💔

I wish I could say Gemma did great her first night after surgery, but that simply wasn’t the case. 😢

By the time I got her home, her little body was dangerously cold. Her temperature had dropped to just 94 degrees, which is an emergency situation. 💔 I spent several hours desperately working to get her body temperature back up, and thankfully, I finally did. 🙏❤️

But our struggles didn’t end there.

My rescues are free-roaming and are only kenneled when absolutely necessary. Poor Gemma was already dealing with the pain and confusion of spay and enucleation surgery, and now she had to wear an e-collar AND be confined to a kennel. She didn’t understand why any of this was happening. 😭

The video shows just a glimpse of what we went through all night. She would fight and struggle until she was completely exhausted, finally rest for a little while, and then wake up and start all over again.

Fight. Exhaustion. Rest. Repeat. 💔

Watching her struggle and not being able to explain that everything I was doing was to protect her absolutely broke my heart.

Rescue isn’t always happy endings and sweet cuddles. Sometimes it’s sleepless nights, scary moments, helpless tears, and doing everything you can for a little soul who doesn’t understand you’re trying to save her. 🥺

Gemma has already been through so much, and all I want is for her to feel safe, comfortable, and loved.

Please keep our sweet girl in your thoughts and prayers as she continues her healing journey. 🙏❤️🐾

You’ve got this, Gemma. We’re going to get through this together. ❤️

Gemma starts her healing journey today. 🩷🐾

Please send our sweet girl lots of hearts, prayers, and healing thoughts as she recovers. 🙏❤️‍🩹

She’s been through so much, but brighter days are ahead. We’ll keep everyone updated on her progress. 🐱💕

❤️‍🩹 SURGERY IS TUESDAY — AND WE NEED YOUR HELP 🐾

This sweet girl is scheduled for an enucleation (eye removal) on Tuesday. She needs this surgery so she can heal, be comfortable, and get on with the happy life she deserves. ❤️

Unfortunately, our rescue funds are getting very low. We have cats and kittens depending on us every day for food, litter, medications, vet care, spay/neuter, and unexpected medical needs like this one.

I never want lack of funds to be the reason we have to say “no” when the next cat desperately needs help.

🐾 If you can spare $5, $10, $20—or any amount at all—please consider helping. Small donations really do add up.

Every donation helps us get this girl through Tuesday and helps us keep saying YES to the next cat who needs us. 🐾❤️

Thank you for supporting Pawsitive Start Wellness and these babies. ❤️

Transports are always hard, but tomorrow’s is going to hurt a little more. 💔

Graysen, Sonic, and Rusti came to me when they were only a couple days old, and tomorrow I send them off to their new families. Bottle babies just hold a special piece of your heart.

I know they’re ready to share all that sweetness and love with their new families, but my heart sure isn’t ready to let them go.

Be good, my sweet babies. I loved you through every bottle, every sleepless night, and every little milestone. Tomorrow you take a piece of my heart with you. ❤️🐾

Born in a feral colony, but made for a cozy home. 🥹 Mazie is taking small steps every day and learning that humans mean safety, warmth, and full bellies. 🐾

Works every single time! 🐟✨ When the bedtime zoomies strike and nobody wants to settle down, we turn on some Cat TV and let the aquarium magic do the rest. Instant quiet, total focus, and sleepy eyes in no time. 😴🐾
