🎆 Fourth of July Safety Tips for Your Pets! 🐾
From Your Friends at Castleton Corners Veterinary Clinic

As we gear up to celebrate Independence Day, don’t forget that fireworks, crowds, and summer heat can be overwhelming — and even dangerous — for our furry companions. Here’s how to help your pets stay safe and stress-free:

🐶 Fireworks & Noise Sensitivity

Keep dogs and cats indoors during fireworks. A quiet, cozy space can help reduce stress.

Play calming music or use a white noise machine to muffle loud sounds.

Talk to us about calming aids or anxiety medications if your pet gets especially nervous.

🐾 ID & Microchips

Make sure your pet’s ID tags and microchip info are up to date. Fireworks are a common cause of lost pets.

🌡️ Heat Safety

Keep pets cool and hydrated. Never leave them in a hot car — even for a minute, even with the windows down.

Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid hot pavement.

🍗 No BBQ Treats for Pets

Human food like ribs, corn cobs, and alcohol can be dangerous. Stick to pet-safe snacks!

Update for all clients, at this time our office is still open for regular business hours today. But please be advised if we have to close due to the Haz-Mat scene a few businesses away, we will give another update. Right now if traveling from the south it is best to detour down Drake Road to enter from the north due to road closure. You will have to stop at the exit and tell the traffic control you are coming to the veterinary clinic. We greatly apologize for this inconvenience to everyone!

🍂 Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Your Pets 🦃🐾

The holidays are here, and while we're all excited to celebrate, it's important to keep our furry friends safe! Here are some Thanksgiving safety tips to help ensure your pets have a happy and healthy holiday:

1. Keep Food Out of Reach: Many Thanksgiving foods, like turkey bones, onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, and chocolate, can be toxic to pets. Avoid giving your pet scraps from the table!

2. Watch for Counter-Surfing: The delicious smells from your holiday cooking might tempt your pet to jump up on counters or tables. Make sure food is out of their reach to prevent accidents.

3. Beware of Alcohol: Never give your pet alcohol, as it can be harmful. Keep drinks and leftovers away from curious paws.

4. Keep Decorations Safe: Avoid small decorations or candles that could be knocked over. And be cautious with holiday plants like poinsettias, which can be toxic to pets.

5. Stress-Free Environment: Holiday gatherings can be loud and stressful for pets. Make sure they have a quiet, comfortable space to retreat to if they need a break from the excitement.

Wishing you and your pets a safe and joyful Thanksgiving! 🧡
