Humane Society of Blue Ridge ๐Ÿถ501(c)(3) nonprofit No-Kill Animal Shelter
๐Ÿ“Blue Ridge, Georgia HSBR is a Non-Profit 501(C)3 organization.

The Humane Society of Blue Ridge (HSBR) is a no-kill pet shelter and adoption center located in the North Georgia Mountains. HSBR was established in December 2008 by a group of dedicated volunteers who wanted to help save abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals in the Fannin County Georgia area. HSBR operates a thrift store located in downtown Blue Ridge and all proceeds go towards the animals.

Come Like our HSBR business Page on Facebook to Keep Up with Current Events! Your generous donations will help us give the animals in our care the attention they deserve. Your monetary donations go a long way to helping homeless cats and dogs. Your contribution helps us find loving homes for countless animals, as well as provide shelter and medical care for our temporary "guests". Donations can be made in person at the Thrift Store:

OUR MISSION AT THE HSBR:

To promote respect for all living things. To provide for the welfare of abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals and to find them loving, permanent homes. We will work to increase the awareness of animal issues through public education, striving to end euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals and promote and offer affordable spay and neutering.

Adoption is a big decision and we completely understand wanting to be sure before you commit!

Our Foster-to-Adopt program gives you two full weeks to get to know your potential new best friend. During that time, you can see how they fit into your routine, your home & your heart.

Itโ€™s a chance to watch their personality begin to shine once they feel safe and at home while making sure the match feels right for both of you.

If after two weeks you know theyโ€™re meant to stay, you donโ€™t have to make the trip back to the shelter!

Weโ€™ll send you a simple payment link for the adoption fee and just like that, theyโ€™ll officially be part of your family. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

Come on down to our Adoption Center to meet our current shelter residents!

Our Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is ELF. ๐Ÿ˜ป

Can you think of a better way to start the holiday season than to have your own Elf on a shelf - or better yet - your own Elf in a cozy bed?

This four-month-old sweetheart has all the makings of a purrrfect companion! Elf is quiet, playful and loving. He enjoys meeting new people and he gets along famously with his suitemates. His creamy buff and white coat is a snap to care for, and he sheds very little. Elf is the total holiday package!

Stop by our Adoption Center at 171 Mineral Springs Road in Blue Ridge to meet ELF.

For more information about this fabulous feline, contact the Adoption Center at 706-632-4357.

HANK has been with us over a year ๐Ÿ˜” shelter environments are stressful for dogs & while he's handling it well, he needs a family & yard to call his own.

HANK loves to play, loves his stuffy toys and walks well on a leash!

He's a fun, slightly goofy & loyal dog who will be such a wonderful addition for his new family!

Added bonuses?! His adoption fee is sponsored, he's microchipped, neutered & vaccinated! ๐Ÿฅณ

MEET PUGSLEY & LINCOLN โœจ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚โ€โ†”๏ธ

These funny, laid back senior gentleman are looking for their forever home. They are a bonded pair we pulled from a euthanasia list in another shelter. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

Their owner could no longer care for them and all the shelters are so over crowded. These boys love each other and love people! ๐Ÿค—

Lincoln is currently in a diet to battle his sausage addiction and Pugsley believes himself to be quite the ladies man. They are both healthy and precious and need a home outside of the shelter.

They are currently ready to curl up on the couch with you, just in time to watch ghost stories and Christmas movies.

Please come meet these sweet older gentlemen and be ready to fall in love!

Visit our Adoption Center between 10 - 4:30 to meet these two distinguished gentleman!

๐Ÿ“ฃ HSBR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM! ๐Ÿ“ฃ

Every day, a volunteer helps improve the life of an animal here at the Humane Society of Blue Ridge. Volunteering is not only good for our animals, it's good for the volunteer!

The joy and companionship animals bring can lift your spirits & calm your mind. Not everyone can have a pet at home, but volunteering with HSBR offers a rewarding way to experience these benefits!

Here are a few ways spending time with animals through volunteering can boost your mood and overall health!

1. Spending time with animals reduces stress and supports mental health.

Interacting with animals can lower cortisol levels and reduce stress. Research from the National Institutes of Health shows that time with animals can ease loneliness and improve mood instantly!

2. Animal companionship supports heart and overall health.

Time with animals can help lower blood pressure, blood sugar and cortisol levels. Less stress also means a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Simply put, being around animals can contribute to both your physical and mental well-being!

3. Volunteering has several mental health benefits.

Volunteering, whether with animals or otherwise, can improve your mood and mental health. According to the National Alliance on Mental Health, volunteering can reduce stress, increase happiness, build confidence and give a sense of purpose. It is also a way to discover new strengths and skills while connecting with others!

4. Volunteering improves social wellness and overall well-being.

Regular volunteering can help manage chronic stress and support long-term health. A 2020 study found that people who volunteered 100 hours or more per year had a lower risk of death over four years compared to those who did not volunteer. The American Heart Association notes volunteering can also increase physical activity and reduce feelings of loneliness!

At HSBR, we love our volunteers and are grateful for them everyday!

Our volunteers make a difference in the lives of countless animals through programs such as:

- Fostering, feeding, caring for, walking and socializing animals

- Assisting at adoption events

- Transporting animals

- Working at our thrift store attendants

- Grant writing, including researching and applying for grants, writing proposals, making calls to potential donors and networking with other grant writers.
