🌟 Adoption Spotlight: Meet Harry! 🌟

Harry is a handsome Military Macaw who has been with us since April 2025—and we think it’s time he found his person! 💚

Harry loves music, dancing, toys and pretty much every kind of food—especially nuts! He can be a little headstrong (but really, what bird isn’t?), and the keys to his heart are consistency, training and plenty of tasty rewards.

He likes both men and women, enjoys being around other birds and happily stays on his playstand without wandering off—at least while he’s here! Harry also enjoys a good head scritch once he’s comfortable with you.

🌱 Sprouts! Sprouts! Sprouts! 🌱

We LOVE sprouting for the birds here at A Helping Wing! 🦜💚 Fresh, crunchy, nutritious—and the flock definitely approves!

Our go-to is the Easy Sprout. It makes sprouting simple, especially when you’re making enough to feed a whole lot of hungry beaks! 😂 Right now, lentils are one of our favorites.

It’s Wednesday… which means MOPPING DAY at A Helping Wing!

With a rescue full of parrots, you can imagine just how glamorous mopping day is. 😂 Feathers, food, pellets, mystery crumbs… you name it, we mop it!

One of our favorite quick and easy bird-safe ways to freshen things up is adding a little cinnamon to the mop bucket. No sprays, perfumes or heavily scented air fresheners needed—just a little warm cinnamon smell while we tackle those floors. 🪣✨

Because around here, clean floors last approximately 7 minutes. 😂🦜

🎪 Sammy’s Got Skills! 🦜

Sammy the Harlequin Macaw is showing off his latest talent — hanging on by ONE foot while playing with his baffle cage! 😂

Why use two feet when one will do? Apparently snacks taste better when you have to perform a full acrobatic routine to get them!

We love watching our birds figure out their foraging toys. A busy beak + a busy brain = a happy bird. ❤️

10/10 for balance, Sammy. Extra points for style! 😂🦜👏

🦜 LET’S FIND 10 MORE BIRDS THEIR FOREVER HOMES! 🏡💚

As we approach the end of August and head into the final quarter of 2026, we’ve set ourselves a BIG goal…

🎯 Find amazing homes for at least 10 more birds!

That’s right — 10 birds! Finding homes for 10 of our big birds would bring our rescue head count down to 98 birds! And of course, if we can find homes for MORE than 10, we’d be absolutely ecstatic! 🎉

For now, we’re rooting for 10 good homes for 10 great BIG birds! 🦜🦜🦜

We’re doing adoption appointments this weekend, so if you’ve been thinking about adding a feathered family member, now is a great time!
