Dry Mix Friday!

We have a few birds on TOP’s pellets, and we love adding a variety of goodies when making their mix. Who wants to eat the same thing every day, right?

Today’s mix includes TOP’s pellets, Island Treat Nature’s Garden Blend, and Christine’s Chop Shop Daily Maintenance Medium and Hot Bombs. Lots of different flavors and textures to keep those busy beaks interested!

What’s in your flock’s bowl today?

Halloween is almost here, and Whoopie Bear has a BIG decision to make!

Should he go as the wise and mysterious wizard, casting magical spells and making treats appear out of thin air?

OR…

Should he embrace his dark side and become Count Whoopie, the blood-sucking vampire, ready to sink his beak into some unsuspecting treats?

Decisions, decisions! Being this adorable is exhausting enough without having to choose the perfect Halloween costume!

Who gets your vote?

Team Wizard or Team Vampire?

Whoopie Bear wants to know!

I think Blu is ready to pick his person!

This adorable, funny blue-and-gold macaw comes with his very own sound effects—he squeals like a little piggy when you’re walking with him! He’s also finally decided that head scratches are a pretty wonderful thing. As you can see, he’s making up for lost time!

Could you be the person Blu chooses? If you’d like to meet this handsome character, the first step is to fill out our short online adoption application at ahelpingwing.org.

Saw something move out of the corner of my eye and had to do a double take!

Not sure Storm, our blue-crowned conure, is too happy about his uninvited guest. Apparently, someone decided to stop by without checking with the homeowner first!

Storm would like to clarify that he did NOT advertise for a roommate.

A box full of toys and a flock full of very busy beaks!

A huge thank you to Melissa at Zorro’s Toys 4 Rescues & Friends for these beautiful, colorful toys! Our AHW crew wasted no time inspecting them—and by inspecting, we mean getting straight to shredding and chewing!

Melissa, thank you for thinking of our feathered friends and giving them so much fun to sink their beaks into. Please take their enthusiastic destruction as the highest compliment. Around here, a pile of confetti means a five-star review!

Good morning from A Helping Wing! Birds are getting fed, play areas are all set, and meds are done. A box of toys arrived, too—watch for a post about that!

What’s left on today’s agenda? Toy making, taking inventory of food and toy parts, baking birdie bread, and, of course, some one-on-one time and training with our feathered friends.

What’s on your agenda today?
