✔️ Loyal
✔️ Focused
✔️ Intense
✔️ Undeniably present

Traits in something or someone that can be overwhelming at times. We don’t run into dogs like this often. Chai is a dog who loves intensely, carries an unmistakable calm, confident energy, sets fair boundaries with other dogs while continuing to teach them.....and as might be expected, suffers no fools. Not exactly an easy one to responsibly place. Combine that with a bite history, and we are at a whole next level of mindfulness regarding a potential placement.

Did I mention it’s an incredibly athletic, lean 77 lb 3.5 yo Rottweiler?

Chai has been with us for over 730 days. 2 years. Since she was just 18 months old. She came from a wonderful family who recognized her natural intensity, and was proactive with her early training. However, despite their efforts she became increasingly reactive on leash. We had just met the family and started lessons for the reactivity. During this time, she delivered a serious bite to Dad which resulted from redirecting while she was reacting to another dog on leash. Because of this escalating behavior, they made the difficult decision to euthanize her.
We knew her enough already to know she could be a balanced dog and safely be part of a family someday…

Chai has continued to mentor dogs - many that found themselves at the same point in their lives with their humans… talking about euthanasia. The number of dogs she has saved from that fate is growing with every day. And they are each living out their lives now with so much more freedom. They’ve had their day. But Chai continued to wait for hers.

Someday…
05/27/2026

Well that day finally came last week, May 27th 2026. That was the 2nd anniversary of Chai joining FCAR and it was also her adoption day!

I did a thing. I adopted her. Me.....Thomas. Don’t like to say much, but I wanted to announce this myself. And no, AI did not write this.

Thank you everyone who supports , , and .

Why do dogs suddenly bark or lunge?

Reactivity isn’t bad behavior. It’s your dog’s way of coping with stress or fear. The good news? You can help them feel safe and calm at home.

Start by noticing triggers, then reward calm moments. Every small win matters.

Curious how to build your dog’s confidence? Message us for easy tips or to book a training session. 🐾

Meet Jordyn 🐾 Daycare Staff & Trainer

Jordyn joined the Blaine Kennels team in the fall of 2024, and in just over a year and a half, she's become an essential part of what makes our daycare run smoothly. Every day, Jordyn is focused on one mission: making sure our daycare dogs are fulfilled both mentally and physically, while also supporting our boarding dogs with social add-ons. She's part of the team that keeps every dog in our care calm, grounded, and thriving.

What sets Jordyn apart? She has a special gift for fearful and nervous dogs. She takes the time to really know them—what they like, what makes them comfortable, what helps them feel safe. That patience and genuine care is exactly what reactive and anxious dogs need.

Jordyn's background includes her CPDT certification (earned in 2023) and mentoring under a trainer in the Twin Cities before finding her home at Blaine Kennels. But here's what really matters: she's adaptable. Whether it's a new system, a new way of structuring our days, or a new dog with a unique challenge, Jordyn rolls with it and finds the approach that works.

The thing that drives Jordyn? Helping dogs be successful—whether that's in their homes or their future homes. And here's the beautiful part: watching her own personal reactive dogs transform through the work we do here has shown her firsthand that the effort truly pays off. That's not just theory for Jordyn; it's lived experience.

Outside of work, Jordyn is a book lover who's been known to stay up all night finishing a good story. She brings that same dedication to understanding every dog that comes through our doors.

When you meet Jordyn, know this: she's here because she genuinely believes in the power of patience, consistency, and meeting each dog where they are. 💙

Meet Katy 🐾 Head Trainer & Daycare Staff

Katy has been part of the Blaine Kennels family since September 2022, and she's the calm, confident force behind our structured daycare packs. Every morning, she's orchestrating playgroups, workouts, and enrichment activities that keep our dogs engaged and balanced. When it comes to board and train dogs, Katy is the one designing their training sessions, managing their exercise, and facilitating socialization—all while building trust with dogs that others have given up on.

What makes Katy special? She has a gift for working with reactive and aggressive dogs. She sees potential where others see problems. "Seeing dogs start to trust and understand how to be a dog" is what drives her—and honestly, that's the heart of what we do here.

Katy's background speaks for itself: Certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist through Starmark Academy, an internship at Starmark's Professional Dog Trainer program, training since she was 10 years old, and continuous learning from top trainers like Jo of Jo and Jaxx Dog Psychology, Cole Lasher, and Cheri Lucas. But her real superpower? She can show you exactly what your dog is capable of and help you and your pup grow your trust and communication together.

Outside of work, Katy channels her passion for dogs into personal dog sports—agility, tricks, nose work, and barn hunt. She's living the life she teaches.

When you meet Katy, know this: she's here to help your dog succeed, and she genuinely believes every dog can learn and grow. 💪

🐾 TODAY – A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND ADOPTION EVENT! 🐾

Have you ever wondered what our rescue dogs are really like when they're happy, relaxed, and just being dogs?

Join Final Chance Animal Rescue today at Blaine Kennels for a unique adoption experience! Instead of meeting dogs one at a time or in a shelter setting, you'll have the opportunity to see many of our adoptable dogs outside together, playing, exercising, socializing, and enjoying life as part of a pack.

Watch their personalities shine as they run, play, make friends, and show off the traits that make each of them special. This is a rare chance to see how our dogs interact with people and other dogs in a natural environment.

Whether you're actively looking to adopt or just curious about rescue dogs, we'd love to have you stop by, meet the pack, and maybe even find your new best friend.
