Adopt A Golden Birmingham We find warm, loving forever homes for Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes. Our dogs are housed in private foster homes.

We are a Golden Retriever Rescue Group managed and operated 100% by volunteers and we rely solely on donations to operate. We do not have a shelter building. We have monthly meet & greets to meet the dogs and you can set up meetings by appointment after you submit your application on our website. I get along great with other dogs and love making new friends (I even got an A+ on my report card at doggie daycare)! I’m good with other dogs, housetrained, and I even enjoyed a ride in the truck recently. I’m still learning to walk on a leash, but with a little guidance, I’ll be the perfect walking buddy. Adoption announcement! Oaklee (now Oaklee) came to Adopt A Golden after his owner could no longer care for him. His new mom says, ”After losing our two 14-year old dogs earlier this year, one of which was a Golden Retriever, we hit the jackpot adopting Oakley! He absolutely adores Sam and their early morning walks and porch time. He loves chest and belly rubs, pup cups, and salmon flavored food and treats. His favorite thing to do is ride - in a car or a golf cart - and he makes friends wherever he goes. He’s a gentle giant who has captured our hearts with his easy going personality, and it feels like he’s always been a part of our family. We’re so grateful to AGB, his foster mom Whitney, and Oakley's original family for allowing us to give this sweet, lovable dog a new home!”

AGB events TODAY! Please share and spread the word 📣😍

AGB is the featured charity at Cahaba Brewing’s annual Oktoberfest🍻We will be there from noon to 5:00 with silent auction items including tickets to the AL vs TN 🏈 game and AU vs Mercer 🏈 game! Plus other great prizes, a fan competition, and AGB orphans there to meet you!

You can also find us at the annual Lakeside Live Musicfest at Lakeside Park in Pell City! There will be live music 🎵, a car show 🚗, and vendors! The fun starts at 10:00 AM. Stop by the AGB tent to see our volunteer Kay, learn more about our organization and give AGB alum Mickey a paw shake 🐾

A pup with the regal name of Edward should only expect the very best life has to offer! Please make this true for our new orphan Edward. He needs our help! Poor Edward has a laundry list of medical needs ongoing but he's also grieving. His owner died and then his companion dog died too. He arrived at AGB in a neglected and somewhat pitiful state. He's heart worm positive, he had intestinal parasites, he was flea bitten which caused skin irritation, his ears were infected and he had hookworms. He's gone from a familiar home with a friend by his side to not knowing what his future will be and he doesn't feel well. AGB is going to take care of all that. He's going to start HW treatment shortly and our vets are taking care of all his other medical concerns as well. Look at that sweet puppy face; he's 7 years old but doesn't look it. He weighs 45 pounds. He's house trained and good with kids. AGB is committed to find him a brand new safe, loving home where he'll be treated like the Prince he's always been. Please help us with his medical costs for this darling boy. He thanks you kindly.

Adoption announcement! Bacon came to Adopt A Golden as an owner surrender. While he was a well loved boy the owners could not care for him anymore. He had some health issues we were able to take care of and he found his forever home pretty quickly. His new mom says, "Bacon stole our hearts right when we met him! He is pure sunshine in dog form, and it’s been so fun having him constantly sitting at our sides (he really loves to sit, he is such a good boy). We had no idea we could love a dog this much! Thank you Adopt a Golden Birmingham for blessing us with our newest family member!!!”

Adoption announcement! Buddy came to AGB a little shy but with a big, sweet heart. He needed someone with patience and time to build his confidence. He got all this and more with his new mom. She had been to a few Meet and Greets, and fell in love when she met Buddy. She tells us that Buddy loved getting to meet his new neighbor's dogs and the dogs at the dog park in Red Mountain. He's still fairly nervous about walks on the street, but he’s making good progress. Enjoy your new life Buddy!
