Many everyday household items that seem harmless can be dangerous for cats. Certain plants, medications, essential oils, cleaning products, and even some foods can cause serious illness if ingested or absorbed through grooming.

Before bringing a new plant, product, or medication into your home, take a moment to make sure it's safe for your feline family member.

There's a reason dogs have such an incredible sense of smell and your lunch is usually at the top of their priority list!

While it's funny when they give you those irresistible puppy eyes, remember that many common sandwich ingredients, including onions, garlic, grapes, and xylitol-containing products, can be dangerous for dogs.

It's true! Dogs have far fewer taste buds than people, but they make up for it with an incredible sense of smell. That's why scent often plays a much bigger role than flavor when they're deciding what to eat.

True! Puppies are born with their eyes and ears closed. Their eyes usually begin opening around 10–14 days of age, and their hearing develops shortly afterward.

During those first few weeks, puppies rely heavily on their sense of touch and smell to find their mother and littermates.

Every cat has their own personality when it comes to affection.

Some love being held, some tolerate it for a few seconds, and others prefer to keep all four paws firmly on the ground. Paying attention to your cat's body language is the best way to know when they're comfortable.

For most dogs, nail trims are needed every 3–4 weeks, but the ideal schedule depends on how quickly their nails grow and how much they naturally wear them down.

If you hear your dog's nails clicking on the floor, it's usually a sign they're ready for a trim. Keeping nails at a healthy length helps prevent discomfort, joint strain, and broken nails.

While cats are descended from desert animals, today's house cats still rely on you to help keep them safe during hot weather.

Cats have limited ways to cool themselves. Unlike people, they only sweat through their paw pads and rely on grooming (evaporative cooling) to lower their body temperature. If they begin panting, they're already struggling to cool down, and it shouldn't be ignored.

Help your cat stay safe by keeping them indoors during the hottest parts of the day, providing plenty of fresh water, and making sure they always have access to cool, shaded areas.
