The barn feels a little different these days, but the rhythm of farm life carries on. Horses still need feeding and lessons continue. We’re Grateful for this place, this community, and the quiet reminders that even after loss, there is still so much to be thankful for. 🤍🐴

Yesterday we lost For the Love of Anna, and a piece of my heart went with her.

Anna wasn’t just one of our broodmares turned lesson horses, she was the heart of our barn. For the last year and a half, she was the first face to greet so many of you when you walked through the doors. If you ever sat in the chairs outside her stall, you probably remember her stretching over to steal a kiss or ask for a scratch, or whatever you were eating. She loved people with her whole heart, and she made everyone feel like they mattered.

She gave me so much more than I could have ever asked of a horse. She gave us beautiful babies, she carried riders with patience and kindness, she helped build confidence in children and adults alike, and she quietly reminded us every single day what a truly good horse looks like.

The hardest part of loving them is that no matter how much time we get, it is never enough.

I’m struggling with the feeling that I somehow failed you, Anna, and I don’t know if that ache will ever completely leave me. I would have given anything for a different ending. I just hope you knew, every single day, how deeply you were loved and how grateful I was to call you mine.

Thank you for every nicker when I walked into the barn, every kiss over your stall guard, every lesson you taught, and every life you touched. The barn already feels so much quieter without you, and I know there will always be a space that only you could fill.

Run free, my beautiful girl. I hope you’re surrounded by endless green grass, sunshine, and peace. Until we meet again, you’ll always be one of the greatest loves of my life.

If you have any pictures of Anna, I would be so grateful if you would share them in the comments. I would love to see her through your eyes and remember all the lives she touched. ❤️

Just another way of beating the heat. 💙

Nothing says summer at the barn like cooling off the horses and maybe getting a little soaked in the process! ☀️💦🐴
