So Wednesday is my weekly visit to Animal Resource Center. Like I always say, it’s the highlight of my week. To make it even better I get to see my kids.
Even better I got to see my survivor Laurie. She is much thinner than her brother and sister, but BOY does she have a voice. She is not happy being by herself, and is telling everyone. I wish I could make the Live Photo of her play so you can all hear for yourself. But with what my little fighter has gone through she looks great. Less than a pound but the voice is 10 times her size. I stopped at Lowe’s and bought a full body painter suit, brought gloves from home just so I could go in and see her. She is in quarantine for 3 whole months.
On the upside mama Shirley went into general pop when I was there and got to spend some time with her. She has some adjustment to all the other adult cats in there but she is still just as much a lover as when she was with me. She is SO sweet, please consider putting in an application and bring her home to your family. Inspite of all the cats in there she was all motor when I was with her.

Been a great week with all the kids so far.
Tig is being Tig with mama.
Tracy is cute as ever and getting more adjusted with people, but still hesitant for attention.
Danny is a typical orange cat.
This morning I put the exercise wheel back in with them and at one point Danny jumped on top of it and rode it till he fell off. They both are running like crazy on it. If you adopt any of my fosters and get a wheel they will love you for it. They are enjoying the extra enrichment.

It was a weekend of intense cleaning. Thanks to Kelly for getting me a steamer, already had the cleaning chemicals. Their area has never been this clean before, may have lost my fingerprints from the steam haha.
The kids LOVE the cat beds Kelly sent them too, they even fit perfectly in the boxes on the shelves. They have moved all over for sleeping Tracy only sleeps in the bed now, Danny sleeps in it about 80% of the time he must like different views.
They curled up in one spot in the other area when I was cleaning their area.
Laurie will be coming home this evening but will be going back to the shelter to quarantine for the next 3 months.

How do you grieve? Give me cats that have been hurt by others. They just seem to know. Not a word is spoken. None needed. 🥺😢
I have the best wife, she understands me.
Adopt a cat, don’t buy, and you may not have a friend for the rest of your life but will for the rest of theirs.
This was a big part of my weekly Wednesday visit. Got to see my Italian crew, they are getting SO big. Got to see my Cosmo, and he saw me in the window and came running to greet me. Made a new friend in the Juvenile room. And some serious cuddles from my girl Ice Cream. 💖

Get in there and fill out an application with Animal Resource Center and chose your next life partner. Can’t decide? Adopt 2, it will be the best 4 cats you take home, and you will love curling up with those 6 cats.🐱

With all that is going on with my fosters, having lost 2 to Panluek 1 is fighting to survive and remains 2 are currently showing healthy, I needed some Ice Cream. This is a cat that will spend a LONG time waiting for her family. She hides up high because shelter life is very tough on her and she is NOT doing well. But when I pick her up this is how she is, turn up your volume and towards the end you will hear her cooing as she is purring. I make sure I give her at least 15 minutes of cuddles when I go, and she knows it and gets ready for me to bring her down from the rafters.
THIS is why you need to look at the shy cats at your rescue. Just because they are hiding doesn’t mean they don’t want to be loved. It means they are scared and are still learning to trust. Sorry, but this makes me emotional.
If you need some Ice Cream in your life goto Animal Resource Center and fill out that application, I promise you won’t regret it.

Good morning, I imagine many of you are looking for an update. I’ve been holding off hoping to have more positive updates.

As you know Saturday morning I lost my little deluted calico.

Monday morning my torbie started showing the same symptoms, throwing up being lethargic and not eating/drinking. So Monday evening I made plans to take her in to get subcontainous fluids (basically hooked up to an IV, I’m going to learn how to do this so I can have a faster response with this), she had a fever of 104. Tuesday morning she wasn’t doing any better and noticed my little orange girl started getting the same symptoms. So scooped them both up, put them both in the crate and it was bring your kids to work morning. Then at 7 am I leave work to take them to ARC so they could take them to the vet. (Sorry but this part is hard to type) that afternoon we lost the torbie, Chris. Of the 5 she was my favorite.
It was here that I learned they had Panluek. This was my WORST fear coming to life. For those that don’t know Panluek is the equivalent of Parvo for dogs. It is VERY deadly and low survival risk. It is also VERY contagious. I now have clothes I only wear when going in with the last to I have at home, change clothes and wash when leaving before going near our cats. I have thrown out all cat beds I had in there, as well as scratching posts, anything fabric. This evening I will be disinfecting everything left in their enclosure.
My orange girl is currently fighting to pull through. She isn’t eating yet, but her temp is normal, active, just not eating on her own. So I am holding on to any little bit of good news I can. If she pulls through I may have to change her name to Kayla, Kayla Harrison is one of the top UFC fighters and thank you Google for helping with that part haha, because she will be one hell of a fighter.
So to say I’m a mess is an understatement. Last night I made sure to keep my trip to the shelter, I really needed some cat cuddles. Those posts will be going up later today. It was very good therapy.

Just a small update of what has been going on this week…

This week has not been off to a good start by any means. Chris, my little torbie girl, has been throwing up all weekend, stopped eating and drinking and is down 6 ounces which means she lost all the weight she gained since coming in. This morning she is on her way to the vet.
THEN last night Laurie, the orange girl, started doing the same. She is going to the vet with her sister.
If they come home today it will mean giving them subcontainous fluids every few hours. Limited sleep and anything else. Don’t care, I lost their sister, I don’t want to lose anymore. I have been fortunate thus far that I have only had a problem with 1 kitten in the last 2 years, until now. This sucks.

This morning it was confirmed boy and girls. I think I should have picked a group of names that was more girls than boys, BUT I can make it work.
Here is the test for you all, how many of you can tell what group these names came from. Hint : I had 6 other names to choose from but Danny was picked due to fur color. I’d be shocked if anyone under the age of 50 can answer this without Google.
This morning Shirley, Mama, was taken back to the shelter to get ready for her next chapter since she isn’t nursing. Now I can focus better on the kids.
Kids below going from left to right, following heads not bodies…
Laurie, orange, girl
Danny, orange/white, boy
Tracy, calico, girl
Chris, torbie, girl - actually boy name in the family it came from but let’s roll with it.

These are the posts I do NOT like making. Since we got back from the beach our little diluted calico girl was t eating and drinking like she should be and this morning she was to go back to the shelter to get looked at and decide what the next step was. I woke this morning to find out she didn’t. Sleep well Cheryl, sleep well, I’m sorry I failed you.

So we took a short vacation and with having just gotten our little fosters and mama I’m missing them. So what do we do? Jen takes me to see a local rescue, wanted to visit last time but couldn’t make it. This time we did. Town Cats of Ocean City has a wonderful set up. They have some loving cats looking for homes, both in foster as well as at their “farm”. When I say some it is more like a couple hundred. As well as spicy, and feral that will live out their lives here.
So we made a stop at Pet Smart picked up some squeeze treats, I already had some crunchy treats in the car. Made the short trip and just enjoyed the moment with a bunch of cats that loved the attention. I left the remains treats with them to help them a little. I left feeling very satisfied. I have the best wife that encourages me. I’m leaving with some ideas that I got to see about doing with the rescue I work with.
I keep saying it but find your local rescue and spend some time with the cats. Just because you are on vacation doesn’t mean you can’t take an hour and do the same. Not only will the cats love it but the volunteers doing the rescue will as well.
Looking forward to the next time. Thank you Town Cats for doing what you do. You will never fully understand how much we all appreciate what you are doing.
