Going on vacation or out of town on business? We’ll be happy to take care of your pup while you are away. We live right next door to our kennel, allowing us to give your dog the optimum level of care and attention. Our indoor-outdoor kennels are heated and air-conditioned and are cleaned and sanitized daily. All canine boarders are provided with daily exercise, which is included in the fee. We encourage you to bring along your pet’s favorite toys or treats. Please feel free to call at any time during your pet’s stay and we will be happy to give you a report!

Because choosing your pet’s “home away from home” is an important decision, we invite you to come and visit our facility (by appointment, please) and see the caring home environment that we have created for your furry friend. Our boarding fee is $35 per day.

Jim Durham, owner and operator of Durham Kennels, has trained dogs for over forty years in Central Kentucky.

At the beginning of his career, he sought professional training in New York and has since developed his unique training style. His hands-on approach utilizes repetition, consistency, and lots of loving care.

During your initial phone consultation, Jim will assess your dog’s background, living environment, and personality and then explain his training methods in detail, helping you understand your critical role in the outcome of your dog’s training. He will listen and answer any questions before, during, or after your dog is trained.

Because Jim limits his enrollment to four to six dogs per month, he can spend quality time with your dog daily, establishing trust, instilling basic obedience commands, and giving your dog plenty of care and attention. After the initial training, he will work with you one-on-one – guiding and coaching you every step – teaching you to successfully execute the commands and gain control of your dog through firm, loving, and consistent reinforcement. He aims to help you establish a lasting and rewarding relationship with your pet.

This handsome fellow is Alfie. He has just completed our Board and Train Program and will be going home this weekend. He is doing all of his commands very well and his owners will have the first of six follow up classes when they pick him up. During these one on one classes, Jim will teach them everything that Alfie has learned. An important part of the training program, follow up classes ensure a successful working relationship between pets and their owners and are included in the training fee.
