Durham Kennels Professional obedience training in a caring home environment. We are conveniently located on ten wooded acres just off I-75 in beautiful Berea, Kentucky.

Currently we are offering our In-kennel Board and Train Program, a three week intensive program which includes basic obedience training for your dog and six follow-up classes for you. Because choosing a qualified trainer is an important decision, we invite you to visit our facility (by appointment, please!) and meet with Jim personally to discuss your pet's needs.

This is Loki, a beautiful and super intelligent guy who has completed the Board and Train program and is going home today. He was a real joy to work with. His owners will be picking him up and completing the first of six follow up classes where I will show them the commands Loki has learned. Then we will continue to work together until they have mastered the commands and have a successful working relationship with their boy. Good job, Loki!

If you are the proud owner of a new pup less than eighteen weeks old, the Puppy Program is an excellent resource for helping you to get off to a positive start. By enrolling in this program, you will have a “puppy coach” to help and support you during the first few weeks of pet ownership, a critical learning time for you and your dog. The fee for this program is $200.00 and includes phone consultations and one private introductory basic obedience class at Durham Kennels.

During the phone consultations, you can just describe the situations you are having with your pet, and then Jim will help you to solve problems and create effective strategies. He can advise you on issues like housebreaking and crate training and give you information on feeding routines and establishing good manners.

You’ll learn to deal with puppy behaviors like jumping up and nipping before they become problematic. Jim will also coach you as you gently introduce lead-breaking and some basic obedience commands. Please call whenever you need advice on a particular puppy issue.

If you choose to enroll in our Train and Board Program, the $200.00 Puppy Program fee will be applied directly to the cost of training.
