Yesterday, we said goodbye to one of the kindest souls in our barn—Tonka.

A gentle giant with a heart of gold, Tonka spent his early years serving with Horses for Healing, patiently carrying countless children. The last few years with us, he brought that same calm and steady spirit. He was the kind of horse anyone could ride—trustworthy, sweet, and always willing.

He touched a lot of lives, and we’re so grateful to have been a part of his final chapter.

Rest easy, Tonka. You were a good boy—one of the best.

LAST CHANCE! Our first event of 2025 is next weekend!

We are thrilled to welcome Pam Bishop for a clinic at NWA Stables and Equestrian Center on April 26th and 27th!

Pam is a USEF "R" Judge in Hunters, Hunter Seat Equitation, Hunter Breeding, and Jumpers. (p.s. Pam will be judging our September show this year - this clinic is a great way to learn what she, and our other judges, are looking for!)

The first day will be a standard "clinic" setup with gymnastic exercises and flatwork.
The second day, we will have courses set where riders can practice over hunter or equitation/medal courses, and Pam will give feedback before and after the ride, and then riders can try again, implementing her feedback. What a great way to brush up on your show ring skills the weekend before our first show!
NWAHJA strongly encourages not just our riders, but parents and other auditors, to attend.

Pricing:

They say one chicken’s just like ten,
So I thought, why not? and did it again.
Enter Big Red, the barnyard king,
Strutting around like he owns everything.

But things escalated, as they tend to do,
Now I’m building a chicken chateau with a five-star view. 🏰
Feathers are flying, the chaos is real,
Big Red’s got attitude and plenty of zeal.

Will this be genius or my downfall? Who knows?
But one thing’s for sure… the madness just grows! 😂🐔

Winter Make Up Your Mind!
Winters back oh, what a show,
Will it be one inch or sixty of snow?
Juan, Grace, and Sarah groan,
This endless cold chills to the bone! 🥶

The water troughs? Heaters are in!
Extra hay? Stacked to the brim!
Mother Nature has lost her way
Wasn’t it spring just the other day?! 🌞🌷🌼

Boots are frozen, noses red,
Juan, Grace, and Sarah just shake their heads.
If this storm is a flurry or a blizzard surprise,
At least the horses 🐴 are cozy and dry!

So bring it on sleet, snow, or ice…
But a little sun ☀️ would sure be nice!

🥶 ❄️Barn Life in the Arctic ❄️🐴

It’s 14 degrees—oh, what a delight,
Our noses are red, our fingers frostbite!
The horses are cozy, munching their hay,
While we’re out here turning into sorbet.

We break through the ice, we trudge through the snow,
Juan’s lost a toe… wait, no, just a woe.
Grace is beside him, bundled up tight,
Wondering why she agreed to this plight.

The blankets are snug, the water is thawed,
We question our life choices, but still, we stand tall!

So while you’re inside, sipping your tea,
Think of us—frozen, but filled with glee😁!
The horses are happy, and that’s what we do,
Even if we’re popsicles… through and through. 🥶🐎

Tomorrow is Juan’s birthday, so let’s raise a rowdy cheer!!
For 22 years he’s been the rock that keeps this farm in gear.
He feeds the horses rain or shine (while we’re inside staying dry),
He fixes fences, jumps car batteries—he’s our go-to guy!
He’s still mad the Chiefs won and are off to the Super Bowl,
But that won’t slow him down—he’s on a nonstop chore patrol!
He handles all us ladies’ requests without a single groan,
A champion of kindness—never once a moan.
Without Juan, we’d be floundering like a horse without a shoe,
So here’s to our unstoppable hero—Juan, we sure love you!!
