When Horses for Healing closed its doors in 2023, the funds from the sale of the property were put into a grant making fund within Arkansas Community Foundation: Harriette's Dream Fund. We invite you to follow us on our new page: Harriette's Dream Fund. We'll be highlighting some of the charities that we are supporting and their activities. These are mostly smaller Arkansas based organizations that fall into one of our 3 mission categories: Helping People in Need; Helping Animals in Need; and Fostering the Human - Animal Bond. We encourage you to support use in our work either through donating to our fund or donating directly to any of these wonderful organizations. You can also check out our website:

Harriette's Dream Fund makes grants to organizations that serve people in need, help animals in need, or foster the human-animal bond, primarily in Northwest Arkansas. We have a Donor Advisory Committee and do not accept unsolicited proposals.

The hard decision was made this month to say goodbye to Zeus. Zeus was part of our herd at Horses for Healing for many years. I former fox hunter, this tall, elegant bay touched so many lives. He loved attention and was always gentle with the children. Arthritis and back problems gradually ended his riding career, but he was always beloved by many. When we closed our doors, Trident Creek Horse Haven took him in. They went above and beyond in their care for him, making a flat pasture in their hilly property so his back wouldn't flare up, giving him expensive supplements for pain management, and most importantly, adopting him into their family and showing him how much he was loved. With winter approaching, though, the pain meds were no longer doing their job, and Zeus was starting to be in constant pain. With broken hearts, Christie notified us of their decision. It was absolutely the right one to make, and we thank them for being there for him at the end, surrounded by those who loved him.

RIP, Zeus.

Harriette's Dream Fund (the successor to Horses for Healing) has been extremely busy this year. We provided over $130,000 in grants to 26 organizations who are passionate about one or more of our mission areas: Helping People in Need; Helping Animals in Need; and Fostering the Human / Animal Bond. Arkansas Community Foundation (which administers the fund) has been a wonderful steward, enabling us to give almost 50% more in grants than we did in 2023.

Check out our 2024 newsletter, which highlights some of the grants we have distributed at https://mailchi.mp/b00fa1cdff98/harriettes-dream-2024-newsletter.
Also, visit our website at www.harriettesdream.com - you can sign up for our annual newsletter or make a donation (ARCF administers the fund and is a tax-deductible 501c3). With your help, we can keep supporting small charities doing amazing work for many years to come!

For those of you who have wondered what has happened with Harriette's Dream, we have been extremely busy in our first year of operation! While Horses for Healing has closed, Harriette's Dream is still alive! The assets from the sale of the Horses for Healing property have been placed into a grant-making fund within Arkansas Community Foundation. In mid-April, Harriette's Dream Charitable Fund became a reality! The Funds mission is to support people in need, animals in need, and the human-animal bond. In the past month, we have made 6 grants: Saving Grace; Trike Theater; Hugs Cafe; Bella Vista Animal Shelter; Boston Mountain Youth Ranch; and Table 7Three. A donation was also made to support the work of Trident Creek Horse Rescue prior to getting the fund established. If you would like to find out more about what we do and who we are supporting, visit our website at www.harriettesdream.com. (Please note that at this time, we are not accepting unsolicited grant requests. All of our grants are distributed based on recommendations by a Donor Advisory Committee.)

This is Our Final Farewell.
The Horses for Healing era has now come to an end. The farm has a fabulous new owner, Toni Clark, who has her own dreams for the facility. All of our horses have been placed in new homes, and we couldn't have asked for better adopters. Back in October, our horses were among our biggest worries since many of them have special needs, whether due to age, medical conditions, or personality. Yet, each one has found what we would have listed as an ideal new home. I firmly believe that God has watched over all of us throughout this transition! It's hard to believe it has only been 4 months. So much has changed and we have so much excitement for the future!

We just sent our final newsletter out, including a farewell from Harriette, a welcome and introduction from Toni, and news about the new Harriette's Dream fund. You can read the newsletter at https://mailchi.mp/a680dc288ce2/hfh-newsletter-winter-9549202.

We can't say it enough times: Thank you all for your support over the years. We wish you all the best!

We handed the keys over to the new owner on January 27, and I am besieged with emotions! One final look back at 30 years of serving the community – the blood, sweat and tears were a reality. But the main feeling I am left with is GRATITUDE!!! Gratitude to those who entrusted us with their children...

I'm a little slow getting this posted, but it has been a busy time. As of January 27, the Horses for Healing property is now NWA Stables and Equestrian Center, owned and operated by Toni Clark. It was bittersweet turning the keys over to her, but we could not have asked for a better outcome. Toni will continue offering boarding services along with lessons and training, compliments of Chloe Hodge and Amy Walsh. Later this year, Toni is planning on starting another therapeutic riding program. What could be better?

As for us, we are working on plans to start a grant-making fund with the proceeds from the sale of the property. More information to come soon (we hope!), but we are excited about the prospects to help other non-profits in a tangible way. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey over the last 30 years. We hope you'll keep in touch!
