Warning: A negative experience with something new can take a while to reverse. Be sure you are keeping things fun and aren't introducing too many things at once.

Labor Day weekend is here! But these fun days and long weekends for humans typically mean strange and different things for our pups.

Lately we've been seeing an increase in -related behavior challenges. A lot of this has to do with shifts in schedules and routines.

This was her first time meeting Amy, and she did amazing! By taking the time and using her play / prey drive for encouragement, she overcame her fear, started having fun, and enjoyed water sports!

💖 Success Saturday: Marnie’s Heartwarming Journey 🐾

Meet Marnie, an adorable Goldendoodle born on April 2023 — and a perfect reminder that every big goal starts with small (sometimes messy) steps.

When she first joined Nancy, walking on leash was a battle (she’d just lay down in the road 😅), she chewed anything she could reach, jumped all over other dogs, and got overwhelmed pretty quickly in new places.
But instead of giving up, Nancy stayed patient and focused — and teamed up with the Lead The Way team to start building better habits and setting Marnie up for success.

Slowly but surely, things started to change.
A few steps on Pennypack Trail.
Chewing on a frozen carrot instead of a leg.
Calmer greetings with new people.
Little moments… but HUGE progress.

By 2024, Marnie earned her Canine Good Citizen certificate — such an amazing win for a pup that once refused to move at all.
In June 2025, she officially became a Certified Therapy Dog, ready to spread comfort and joy wherever she goes.
And by August 2025, Marnie completed her first therapy visit and absolutely melted the hearts of the residents. Nancy messaged: “It’s amazing to see the interaction with the residents… could not have done it without you and the team.” 💖

✨ Marnie’s story is a beautiful reminder that success doesn’t happen overnight — it’s the result of showing up, believing in each other, and never letting a bad day define the journey. With Nancy’s unwavering support and the guidance of the Lead The Way team, Marnie has gone from unsure pup to inspiring therapy dog, changing lives one gentle paw at a time.

🐾 For today’s Wonderful Wednesday 🌟

Shining the spotlight on Bee for showing incredible manners during a recent family outing to a parade! Whether staying calm around other dogs or walking politely through a busy crowd, our girl Bee proved that good training makes every adventure more enjoyable.

Bee’s furmom shared, “Hey Lead the Way. Look at your girl chilling at the parade and see the big handsome dog 4 yards away that she isn’t screaming ‘love me’ to!” 💛

This is just one amazing outcome of attending our Pack Walks — helping dogs build confidence and social skills in real-world settings.

We’re so proud of this wonderful pup and her dedicated family for making every moment a success! 💜👏

The areas to focus on during socialization really depend on your family's goals, your breed, and your dog's history.

Today's is all about Gemma and Buckles' camping adventure to .

They both really enjoyed the park after the journey there and throughout their visit. The pet-friendly cabin was the perfect homebase and you'll see how Amy and Mike made sure they were comfy and felt right at home.

Although Gemma's version of freedom looks different from Buckles', they both had an amazing time exploring, hanging with the family, and making new friends.

By understanding their body language and paying close attention to them, their humans could keep them calm and below their threshold. This means that everyone got to enjoy the trip and take breaks as needed to ensure the vacation was a blast!

🌟 : Remi’s Journey to Becoming the Best Girl 🐾

Meet Remi — a gentle, curious puppy with a sweet heart and a lot of love to give. 💜 Her pawrents, Brian and Erin, brought her home from a breeder in New York, knowing she had the potential to become a well-mannered, confident companion. With a desire to give her the best possible start, they enrolled her in our Top Paw Program — a three-month training journey designed just for her.

From the start, their goals were clear:
They wanted Remi to grow into a calm, polite family dog who could walk nicely on leash, greet guests respectfully, and build healthy relationships with their kids. Most of all, they wanted her to thrive in their home — making wonderful memories and growing up with love and structure.

And in just a short time, Remi’s transformation has been incredible. She’s gone from a mouthy, easily distracted baby to a pup who makes thoughtful choices and engages with the world around her with curiosity and calm. She’s learning to respond with patience, and her interactions with the kids have improved so much — she’s no longer playing too rough, but instead showing signs of true understanding and care. 🐾

Her pawrents recently shared:
“Remi is the sweetest and most well-behaved, loving girl. Thank you to your team for helping her start out on the right foot.”

We’re so proud of how far Remi has come — and even more excited for all the milestones she’ll continue to reach. With the support of her amazing family and the Lead the Way team by her side, she’s growing into exactly who she’s meant to be. 💫

Throwing it back to double the cuteness! 🐶🐶 These two were melting hearts from day one.

We’re working with amazing puppies right now, and we’re loving every minute of it.
Helping young dogs build a solid foundation of manners, independence, and smart decision-making is what we do best. 🎓

A good walk helps your dog learn patience, stay focused, and respond to calm guidance. It’s where manners are practiced, energy is balanced, and your connection grows stronger with every step. 💜

Our Story

When I opened Lead the Way Dog Training, what was always most important to me was making a huge impact on the lives of people I come in contact with. I have always found it very rewarding to see families go from the chaos and frustration of their dogs not listening, to the peace of having a dog that listens… the freedom to truly enjoy their dog. To me it’s all about that impact. We do things very differently here, and the families we get to help really love how THEY become part of our family during training. The sense of community, knowing you have people who understand you. Our clients become friends who call us when they need anything. All the trainers and staff at LTW have our own passions for dogs… rescue, service dogs, therapy dogs, obedience… and our combined passion and knowledge helps give everyone the best - for your family and for your dog! Most of all, it’s important to know that we are compassionate people and we make training your dog FUN! And it works.
