This week's features Banjo and his Dad, Gregg!

Banjo came to us after Gregg rescued him from a local shelter. He had displayed some guarding behaviors and we quickly got to work creating safety protocols and getting him in our Safe Dog program.

This video shows a few of the key steps and Banjo's progress!

Gregg is an experienced bully breed owner and knew when he lost his beloved companion that he wanted to give a chance to another bully rescue.

We started with basic obedience / manners / foundations for communication, added safety protocols to start expanding his freedom, and then packwalks.

Now we are working towards adding another dog to the team so Banjo can live his best life possible!!

Different breeds have different language skills and use different barks to communicate.

Alert, Play, Fear, Attention, Threat - these barks all sound different!

Some dogs also have their communication wires mixed up. We see this frequently in dogs that had a challenging life as a puppy.

☀️ Memorial Day Weekend Tips☀️

Holiday weekends can be exciting for us, but sometimes overwhelming for our dogs. With guests coming over, BBQs, thunderstorms, extra activity, and changes in routine, it’s important to help our pups feel safe and comfortable too.

A few simple ways to help:
• Move walks and activities earlier in the day
• Give prescribed medication before storms or stressful events begin
• Set up a quiet, cozy space for your dog to relax
• Prepare ahead instead of waiting until the last minute

A little planning can make gatherings more successful and less stressful for everyone — dogs included! 🐾

Freedom can look very different for humans and our furry besties sometimes!

As pet pawrents we all know that vacation planning requires some energy whether your dog is joining you for the adventure or not.

Did you know you can take a vacation, and your dog can take their own vacation too?

Our community members (families actively in a custom training program or have graduated from a program) have access to our boarding and pet-sitting services. Today's features Sadie and her brother, Banjo.

It's also a story about the power and success of our fantastic community.

Here's the story:
Sadie struggled to get along with another dog, and they kept fighting. Her family did an amazing job with her training, but unfortunately, it was still not possible for those two to find peace and harmony under the same roof.
🐾
Knowing Sadie and her triggers, we worked with our community to find a different environment where Sadie could thrive.
✨
Gregg offered to help during the transition, and things went so well that his Mom, who lives very close by, adopted Sadie.
🏘️
Banjo and Sadie have learned to have a fantastic time together, socializing and playing, while Sadie also gets to live her life as an only dog. What a dream scenario!

Having a friend and support close by is working out so well for all humans and dogs. This pack is on their way to living their dream life! You can see some of these special moments in our video today (and there are so many more that haven't been captured happening all the time).
