Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue is at the forefront of generating awareness concerning the mistreatment and over-population of Livestock Guardian Breeds.

Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue is a 501c3 organization with a network of volunteers across the United States. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome unwanted, displaced, and neglected Great Pyrenees along with other Livestock Guardian dogs that are abandoned in high kill shelters throughout Texas. By placing them in caring and nurturing foster homes we are able to successfully adopt them to loving homes th

A Warm Wednesday Welcome to Duke! This baby was found wandering due to the fencing in his initial home being far from Pyr-proof! He was taken in by a Good Samaritan who contacted the original owner and ultimately needed to surrender him. Our friends are fostering this sweet 6-7 month old in Washington. Cutie pie Bolt, with his adorable freckles and winning smile, is still holding out hope that his forever family is out there! This sweet guy has been in rescue for over two years—and we can’t figure out why! He’s friendly, fun-loving, and would thrive with a playful female buddy to help patrol the yard and chase butterflies.🦋

Buddy is stressed in boarding and desperately needs a calm, dog-free, kid-free home to decompress. 🐾

Originally thought to be a working dog, Buddy was adopted to a livestock home—but he made it clear: he wants people, not goats. 😅 He’s not safe around livestock but thrives with experienced Pyr-loving adults.

✅ Neutered, UTD on shots
✅ House-trained, leash-savvy
✅ Loves exploring outdoors (fenced yard needed!)
🚫 No livestock, no small kids

He enjoys other large dogs and would love a mellow, chill home. We can help with transport in western states.
