Fall allergies aren't just a people problem! Ragweed season peaks in September, and for a lot of dogs that means itchy skin, constant paw licking, and hot spots that seem to appear out of nowhere.

Here's the part people miss: pollen settles into the coat and just stays there, so your dog is carrying it around all day. A good bath rinses it out. If your pup gets itchy this time of year, more frequent baths help more than you'd expect.

September is National Service Dog Month, and if you cross paths with one out working, there are three small things that make a real difference.

Let them work. No calling, no whistling, and no sneaky pets, we know that last one is hard.

Keep your own dog back. Even a friendly hello can pull a working dog off task, and they've got somebody counting on them.

And give them room. Doorways, elevators, and narrow aisles are the tight spots where a working dog needs space to position themselves, so step aside and let them through.

We've had a few working dogs on our table over the years, and they're honestly some of the best behaved dogs that come through our door. We're grateful for the work they do, and for the people they look after.
