Summer Horse Camp 2026 came to an end today.
We packed a lot of activites into 5 days. The camers rode horses, bouncy balls and the water slide, cleaned the barns/ stalls, did arts projects and played arena volley ball every day.
Each day we introduced something new. Like horse trailer basics, tack cleaning, a scavenger hunt, etc.
Today we limited outside time and didn't exercise the horses as per suggested AQI guidelines. But the students did learn emergency dismounts! Dewey, Leo and Ernie were very confused by the smoke and why their riders kept falling off of them! But were true champions. Everyone did a great job and hopefully gained a skill they will never need.
We also had the horses paint with their muzzles. The paper and paint were placed in a zip top bag and the bag had molasses drizzled on it for the horse to lick and nose around. The results were beautiful paintings that the campers took home.
The best artist was (drum roll please) BUBBS! Her art was amazing and she loved painting...or maybe she loved the sweet taste of molasses!
We distributed our Summer Horse Camp Shirts, each year the campers pick the next year's shirt color. They picked purple for this year's shirts. A special thanks to Karen Shilling Wertz for our amazing shirts!
We also took some time to take some group photos around the farm.
A huge thank you to the families who entrusted us with their children, the campers we were fun, excited and worked hard, and our amazing staff members who are mostly volunteers and are all absolutely spectacular humans.
Time to start planning our Fall Fun Day. We promised the kids we'd post details soon!
