🐾🌟 DAYTIME AKC STAR Puppy Class Interest Check! 🌟🐾

We’re considering adding a DAYTIME AKC STAR Puppy Class at PAWZ IN TIME, LLC / HeartSoul Dog Training

We already have 2 puppies interested and would love to add 3–5 more to get a class started.

What is the AKC STAR Puppy Program?

STAR stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility. It is the American Kennel Club’s first step in helping puppies grow into well-mannered, confident companions.

During class, puppies and their owners learn:
🐾 Socialization with people and other puppies
🐾 Basic obedience skills like sit, down, come, and walking on a loose leash
🐾 Focus and engagement with their handler
🐾 Handling and grooming exercises
🐾 Confidence-building through new experiences and activities
🐾 Good manners at home and in public

The program is designed for puppies up to 1 year of age and provides a fun, positive foundation for future training, including the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program.

If you’d be interested in joining a weekday daytime class, comment below or send us a message! Be sure to include your puppy’s age and what daytime schedule would work best for you.

⚠️🐾 Watch Out for Poison Hemlock‼️

As the weather warms up, poison hemlock is popping up along roadsides, fence lines, fields, and ditches. While it may look harmless with its delicate white flowers and fern-like leaves, it is one of the most toxic plants in North America.

For dogs, even chewing a small amount can cause serious poisoning, including drooling, tremors, weakness, difficulty breathing, seizures, and even death.

💚 Keep your dogs from exploring unknown plants.
💚 Check your yard and walking routes for poison hemlock.
💚 If you think your dog has eaten any part of this plant, contact your veterinarian immediately.

One easy way to identify it is by its smooth green stem covered with distinctive purple blotches or spots.

Please share this information—it could save a pet’s life. 🐾💜

Poison hemlock can be identified by these key features:

* 🌿 Tall plant that often grows 6–10 feet high (sometimes taller).
* 🍃 Fern-like, finely divided leaves that resemble parsley or wild carrot.
* ⚪ Clusters of tiny white flowers arranged in umbrella-shaped groups.
* 🟣 Smooth green stems with distinctive purple blotches or streaks—this is one of the easiest ways to identify it.
* 🚫 It has no fuzzy hairs on the stem, unlike wild carrot (Queen Anne’s lace), which is often confused with it.

🎉🐾 Congratulations to Our New Canine Good Citizens! 🐾🎉

A special congratulations to the teams who recently earned their AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title!

The CGC program is designed to recognize dogs that have good manners at home and in the community. To earn the title, teams must demonstrate skills such as accepting friendly strangers, walking politely on a leash, coming when called, remaining under control around distractions, and showing that they can be a well-behaved member of society.

While earning a CGC title is certainly an accomplishment, what it really represents is the relationship, trust, and teamwork that has been built between dog and handler. Those things can’t be measured by a ribbon or certificate—but they are the true foundation of success.

Congratulations on all your hard work and dedication. We are proud of each and every one of you! 💜🐾✨

A big congratulations to Marti and Holli for earning their AKC Community Canine (CGCA) title!

The CGCA is the next step beyond the Canine Good Citizen program and demonstrates that a dog can remain polite, well-mannered, and under control in more challenging, real-world situations. From navigating distractions to demonstrating good manners in public settings, this title reflects teamwork, training, and a strong partnership between dog and handler.

Most importantly, titles like these represent the time, patience, and connection built along the journey. Marty and Holly have put in the work, and it showed!

We are proud of all you’ve accomplished and look forward to seeing what comes next. 💜🐾

🐾 Congratulations to everyone who participated in our Pre-CGC class! Whether your goal was improving manners, building focus, strengthening your relationship with your dog, or preparing for the next step, you should be proud of how far you’ve come.

And a special congratulations to the teams who decided to take the actual CGC test and earned their Canine Good Citizen title! 🎉.

While titles are certainly something to celebrate, the real success is the time, effort, trust, and connection you’ve built with your dog along the way. The title is simply a reflection of all that hard work.

We are proud of every team that stepped into class, showed up, and continued investing in their relationship with their dog. 💜

🎓🐾 STAR Puppy Graduation Day! 🎓

Tuesday evening we celebrated some very special puppies and their families as they completed their STAR Puppy class!

Yes, they earned a title, and that's something to be proud of. But the truth is, the title is only a small part of the journey.

What matters most are the moments in between...

The confidence that grew.The trust that was built.The communication that became clearer.The friendships that were formed.The laughter, the challenges, and the victories both big and small.

At PAWZ IN TIME, LLC / HeartSoul Dog Training, we believe training is about so much more than sits, downs, and titles. It's about building a relationship with your puppy/dog that lasts a lifetime.♥️🐾

These puppies may have earned their first title, but more importantly, they are building the foundation for a lifetime of connection, fun, teamwork, and adventure with their families.
