Just wanted to share a little bit about what your dog experiences during a grooming session with us!
Elle, my 6-month-old puppy (approximately 30 pounds), got a maintenance groom today. I set her pattern 4 weeks ago, and that groom alone took 5 hours from start to finish. This time, I timed each step to show just how much goes into your pet’s haircut:
Bath: 15:12
Pull ear hair: 4:43
Clean ears: 2:21
HV dry: 20:35
Fluff dry: 19:35
Prep work: 14:23
Haircut: 1:11:51
Total: 2:28:51
Every pet gets bathed twice and conditioned. We use several different shampoos and conditioners depending on your pet’s skin and coat type.
Shampoos:
Clarifying
All skin types
Allergy 1 (for sebaceous/yeasty skin)
Allergy 2 (for red/dry/itchy skin)
De-shed
Hypo/non-fragrance
Conditioners:
All coat types
De-shed
Keratin mask
Hydrating mud mask
H**p (for allergic skin)
Hypo/non-fragrance
After bathing, we high-velocity (HV) dry to about 80–90%, then move to fluff drying. Fluff drying is what gets your pet’s hair fluffy and straight for an even cut, so when it curls back up, everything still looks neat.
I’ve added pictures to show that even after HV drying, the hair is still slightly damp near the skin. Brushing and combing with the stand dryer stretches the hair straight — plus, this step lets us see everything on your pet’s skin, which helps us spot any new growths, ticks, or skin issues early.
Elle isn’t perfect on the table (she’s still a puppy with zero attention span!), and the quiet snip of scissors still freaks her out a bit. She’s also transitioning from her soft puppy coat to a coarser, curlier adult coat.
Every pet is different and has their own comfort level with each part of the process — most commonly, the HV dryer or feet trimming can be tricky. We always do our best to make sure every pet looks and feels their best in the most positive way possible. 💕🐾
