Rathvinden Farm

Rathvinden Farm Rathvinden Farm is a regenerative flower farm dedicated to sustainable agriculture, education, art, and animal welfare.

Rathvinden started as a dream to create a place of refuge and healing for homeless domesticated animals. The aim was to provide a healthy and comfortable environment, socialization, and if needed, rehabilitation, to prepare animals for permanent adoption with new families. Years later, inspired by the young people who have brought their ideas and enthusiasm to the project, the vision has expanded

to include an organic flower farm and educational center. Rathvinden Farm is located on a fifty-acre site in the Gallatin Valley of Montana. It's goal is to promote animal rescue and welfare, organic and integrative agriculture practices, art, sustainability, and education. Rathvinden hosts a variety of educational opportunities to the surrounding communities with an emphasis on land stewardship, self-reliance, agriculture, creativity, and sustainability. We are excited to be part of a growing network of permaculture sites across Montana and the US that are working together to exchange information, share resources, and support each other's dreams and efforts. We would like to thank and acknowledge Mountain Mycoworks, Ott-Kimm Conservatory, Perpetual Green Gardens, Broken Ground, Cloud Nine Farm, Sage Mountain Center, Valerie Vance, Spring Creek Community Garden, Transition Town Bozeman, Sunburst Unlimited, and Montana Farmers Union.

Holy cow the month of May went by as some sort of fever dream comprised of seeding, planting, w**ding, harvesting, wedding flowering, and now we’re unbelievably 10 days into June!

In May we celebrated 3 Ta**us earth-mama’s birthdays, hosted a Mother’s Day Market, completed our first bouquet subscription of the season, sold out of Cut Flower Garden Kits, cried a little, laughed a lot, got schooled by Mother Nature a few times, washed many buckets, sassed each other, felt really tired, ate 1000 chocolate turtles (IYKYK thank u Costco fairie), accepted that dandelions will always prevail and are honestly not the worst w**d problem to have, burned 1 million holes in landscape fabric, forgot some things, talked a lot about how we need to order corms for next year but still haven’t, and moved around endless rock bags.

June, onwards!

Would ya look at that! Something we put up for sale on our website a couple months ago and then never advertised! And so it goes!

Somehow some of you found them and pre-purchased— thank you so much!

For those of you who haven’t heard… we’re offering a new alternative to a flower subscription this year: a grow-your-own Cut Flower Garden Kit! Includes 32 plants that have been hardened-off and are ready to go straight into your garden! If cared for properly these plants should provide gorgeous cut flower bouquets starting sometime in July and going into fall!

We’re excited about the variety we have in these kits and can’t wait to get them out into the world! If you’re interested in purchasing a kit (pick up next week!) check out the link in our bio! Pre-purchasers: check your email for pick up details and thank you for our patience while we grew these beauties for you this spring!

xoxo,
Rathvinden

The season doesn’t officially begin until all of the buckets we gave up washing from late September onwards (it got cold and we got lazy!) are scrubbed, sanitized, dried, and put away. Pictured in second slide: all of the newly washed buckets that had to put away in order to film the timelapse video in the first slide.
