Nice weather at the Madison yesterday.

As of December 5, 60 cases of EHV-1 have been confirmed in horses from Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington, with 47 showing neurologic signs, according to the EDCC, which posts real-time alerts for a range of equine infectious diseases. As of December 5th no cases have been reported in Montana but since the outbreak started on November 20th Baker Horse Ranch continues to keep its boarding facility closed to traveling horses and will continue to do so until it is completely safe to do so.

Introducing new horses into a herd is always interesting. An established herd always has a lead horse, middle horses and horses on the lower end of the group. We always introduce them with a fence in between before allowing them to be in the same pasture. This introduction went well…😃
