For those awaiting an update on Jude; I wish I had better news. 💔

Jude's pathology reports revealed that the mass was a high grade mast cell tumor. We will be moving forward with the amputation as long as his liver and spleen ultrasound clear on Tuesday. He is being referred to VCA Middleton for a consultation with their Oncology department.

I am an absolute mess at the moment and I apologize for any delay in my response to messages. My heart is absolutely shattered.

Jude is home, sleeping off the rest of his anesthetic ❤️ As of right now we are moving forward with cautious optimism. His radiographs were all clear! Our vet is confident that the tumor is likely a sarcoma, but we all agreed to send it of for pathology to determine our best course of action. Regardless of the type of sarcoma, our first step forward will be a full limb amputation as full excision of the mass was not possible due to the numerous structures it had woven itself into. Once we recieve the pathology reports, we will work to determine which chemotherapy options are best for Jude.

Needless to say, I am looking at every breath through a new lens. Our market attendance going forward will be dependent on Jude's ability to join us. He has always been our velcro baby, and I intend to soak up every second of his static cling with open arms. He will absolutely be with me this weekend. And I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to The Dove Apothecary for welcoming him into their space for the day. It means the world to us.

We also want to acknowledge and say a massive thank you to Dr. Yelk and her entire team. For always treating our babies like their own. For being honest and compassionate through every bump in the road ❤️

I am signing off for the night, as I have two young kiddos to debrief and comfort. (He has extra padding to buffer their love) Along with wanting to soak up every second with the world's best boy.

I absolutely hate that I am writing this right now.

Upon dissection, Jude's mass was in fact not a simple hygroma with joint involvement. His surgical team is still trying to debulk the many very vascular attachments so they can close him up. We are moving forward with pathology and chest x-rays while we work on scheduling a full limb amputation within the next two weeks.

Please pray, send good vibes,or do whatever you do when you need to find peace; that my sweet boy still has many happy years ahead.

One stuffed frozen trachea for Newt! With a side of ✨Trazadone️✨️.

Newt suffers from extreme separation anxiety. I'm not sure which one of us is a bigger mess while Jude is with the amazing team at Poynette Veterinary Care today.
