🐾 A Message from the Shelter🐾

Our shelter is currently operating over capacity, and at this time we are no longer able to ethically accept additional animal intakes. While we never want to turn away an animal in need, our priority must be ensuring that every shelter animal already in our care receives the space, attention, and quality of care they deserve.

The good news is that we have many wonderful animals looking for loving homes, including cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies of all ages and personalities. Every adoption creates much-needed space and allows us to help another animal in need. If you have been considering adding a furry family member to your home, now is the perfect time to visit. We invite you to stop by the shelter from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. this Saturday or during our regular hours next week to meet your new best friend.

Please note: The photo attached to this post contains a list of regional rescue organizations, shelters, and other animal welfare resources that may be able to assist those seeking placement options for animals at this time. We encourage you to reach out to these organizations directly if you need immediate assistance.

Today is a very exciting day for our organization!

After much thought and planning, the Humane Society of Independence County is officially becoming Finding Furever Friends. While our name is changing, our mission remains exactly the same: providing care, compassion, and second chances to the l animals of our community.

One of the biggest reasons for this change is to help our community better understand who we are. We are an independent, local nonprofit organization. We are not affiliated with or funded by any national humane society organization. Every donation, volunteer hour, adoption, and act of support stays right here and directly benefits the animals in our care.

As we continue to grow, we wanted a name that better reflects our mission of connecting animals with the loving homes they deserve. Finding Furever Friends represents hope, new beginnings, and the lifelong bonds formed through adoption.
Don't worry—we aren't going anywhere! We will still be operating out of the same shelter building with the same dedicated staff, volunteers, and board members who work every day to make a difference for local animals. The only thing changing is our name.

We want to thank our community for the incredible support you've shown us over the years. Whether you've adopted, fostered, volunteered, donated, shared our posts, or simply cheered us on, you've helped make this next chapter possible.

And what better way to celebrate than by finding your new best friend? We currently have lots of kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs looking for loving homes. Stop by the shelter and meet some of our sweet little angels—you might just find your furever friend.

🐾 Come see Baxter and Cubby today at Tractor Supply in Batesville from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM!

These two handsome boys are spending the day helping us spread the word about the wonderful animals waiting for loving homes at our shelter. Stop by to meet them, say hello, and learn more about adoption and fostering opportunities.

Our volunteers will be on-site all day to answer your questions about the shelter, our available animals, volunteer opportunities, and ways you can support our mission. Whether you're looking to add a furry friend to your family or simply want to learn more about what we do, we'd love to visit with you!

We'll also be accepting donations to help provide food, medical care, and shelter for the animals in our care!!

Come out, meet Baxter and Cubby, and help us make a difference for animals in our community. We look forward to seeing you there!

CUTE ALERT!! Baxter is 7-8 weeks old and will be looking for his forever family soon. We’re unsure of his breed, but could be Golden Retriever or Pyrenees. One thing is for sure - he’s a fluff ball full of love and sweetness ❤️ For more information contact us at 870-262-9568
