Chevy and Chance went on a field trip to see Dr. Carly this morning and were such good boys! Chevy had a follow-up scope to check on his ulcers, and he showed great improvement. He’s still not completely clear, but we have a plan for the next month to continue his treatment. Chance got his teeth done and got his vaccines updated. A fun surprise is that Dr. Carly thinks Chance is closer to 15 years old rather than in his 20s as we initially thought!

All in all it was a great morning and the boys are back home and settled in their stalls to relax for the rest of the day.

It was pedicure day for some of the herd! Chance got his first trim with us and was SUCH a good boy! Not everyone is pictured, but here are some of our good ponies getting pampered 🥰

It’s been a very rainy camp week, but the horses have loved all the TLC they’ve been getting! Here’s Buddy at the tail end of his bubble bath yesterday. 🤍💅🫧

Chance Update!

As we suspected, Chance’s blood test came back showing he has “off the charts” Cushings Disease. For anyone unfamiliar with that condition, this explains his crazy long coat and his inability to shed properly on his own (among many other challenges). He has already started medication to regulate those numbers, so we are hopeful he will feel better soon. The treatment for this condition is lifelong, but is very simple.

He has also officially graduated from his second stage of quarantine on our farm and has gained a pasture mate! He and Holiday are getting along swimmingly so far. He’s not quite sure how he feels about coming into the barn during the day, but we are hoping he will settle in shortly.

Overall, we couldn’t be happier with how he is doing and what a sweet guy he is!

✨ Glow-up in progress ✨

Chance got body clipped and bathed today, and he is feeling very handsome!

He was very scared of the clippers to start with, but he settled into his spa day with a bit of patience and gentle handling. We opted to leave his legs hairy for now for the sake of bug protection and also in an effort not to push our luck with his tolerance today.

We are truthfully shocked at just how good he looks under all that hair! We can’t wait to see how good he looks once we get his feet and the rest of this gnarly coat under control.

So much progress for this sweet guy in such a short amount of time. We just love him! 🤍

Our newest baby, Chance, was able to come home to us today! He definitely needs some TLC, but he is so kind and gentle. He was incredibly patient with us cutting out the mats in his hair and pulling the ticks off of him. We will have more updates following his vet appointment in the morning so stay tuned on his journey back to health! Welcome home, Chance! 🤍

Beau is home! He finished up his lease as a companion horse and is back home now running around with his buddies (aka Chevy is giving him a hard time for leaving in the first place). We sure are happy to have him back with us, and we are so glad he had such a wonderful time at his lease home! 🤍🥰
