Katniss and Prim had their first vet visit yesterday. Other than being underweight, they appear to be in good shape. They are a little over a year old. They received their first vaccines, flea/tick treatment, and deworming. And they are set to be spayed on September 23. Meanwhile, we will be working on leash training and overcoming their separation anxiety and fear of getting in/out of a vehicle. Both are amazingly sweet and have that Shepherd intelligence. They don't do it for recognition. They do it because they showed up one day, looked into a pair of eyes behind a kennel gate, and simply couldn't walk away.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of Lucky's Crew Animal Rescue. They walk the dogs, sit with the shy ones, socialize the nervous ones, and show up again the next day ready to do it all over again.

Because of them, dogs feel less alone. Because of them, more tails wag. Because of them, more lives get saved.

We just took in two beautiful girls who were dumped near Lake Success about three weeks ago. It took two amazing women over four hours to catch them! We have named them Katniss and Primrose. They are safe and getting the care they deserve and will be visiting the Vet asap. They are scared and clinging to each other, very hard to leash but with time and patience we will get them both where they need to be. A dog's trust is not given lightly, especially a rescue dog's.

This is Miracle.

And her name could not be more fitting.

On Christmas Day, she was found clinging to brush in the middle of a freezing cold river. One of Lucky's Crew jumped in without hesitation to save her, and from that moment, her second chance at life began.

Miracle is 5 years old, active, playful, and the kind of dog who gives back every bit of love she receives. She warms up quickly with a kind hello, loves a good rough and tumble play session with other dogs, and is equally happy curling up for quiet cuddles at the end of the day.

She is a perfect companion for someone who loves outdoor adventures just as much as cozy evenings at home.

This girl has already survived the unthinkable. Now she just needs someone to give her the life she always deserved.

We are heartbroken. We lost Hemi overnight. Our sweet boy had struggled with several health issues over the last couple of years and he finally lost the fight. The world has lost an amazing soul!

He was found about five years ago, injured, completely exhausted, and not moving, just lying in the middle of Round Mountain Road. He had multiple old fractures in his leg that were not able to be repaired but it never slowed him down, never stopped him. And because of that we decided against amputating the leg. The crooked leg just became another endearing part of who he was.

Because of the numerous other health problems, Hemi never found his forever home, but we were his family and he was loved so very much. I am going to miss the sounds of his herding ball smacking the fence over and over, and his very vocal announcement to all at dinner time. Most of all I am going to miss the rides in the car that he loved so much. Goodbye Hemi, we will miss you until then day that you come running to meet us on the other side of the bridge. 🌈
