That’s a wrap on Come And Write retreat 4.0. We forgot to get an all group picture, but here is a little bit of proof that some writing did indeed get done. We also had plenty of inspiration from the great outdoors! What a beautiful weekend.
Also here’s a free writing tip: when Stephen King said to “kill your darlings,” he didn’t mean to throw them off an actual cliff.

Went home to PA to see my family last weekend. A belated 80th birthday for my mom but someone else took over the weekend. Catch the theme?

Can never get enough of Steamboat Springs. And the colors last weekend blew our minds.

fulfilling a childhood dream. I released a book I’d written about a girl with a big dream of her own into the world:
Jeanie Blair, Author Extraordinaire.
A bit of a parallel story.
Jeanie had delusions of grandeur as well.
The book went to a place where friends will celebrate with you,
strangers will question you,
and critics will shred you.
It’s a daunting task and not for the faint of heart.
It takes resilience, grit, perseverance, and maybe a little lunacy.
Ten years and six other books later, I’m not sorry.
I’m grateful.
Grateful to the the boy who said he loves Peter’s story because he was bullied too.
Grateful to the girl who forgave her mom for leaving her because Rachel did in her story too.
Grateful to the boy who said he stopped lying because Ethan did in his story too.
Grateful for the girl who said she would write a story to make the world better because Jeanie (finally) did too.
Mostly I’m grateful for each and every one of you who came to celebrate with me on Saturday.
Words can’t express how full you filled my heart.
Thank you again and again.
And to the mom who asked if there would be an 11th anniversary - you made my day!
But no. 🤪
Maybe a 15th… but we’ll see.
Oh and don’t miss the nails in the last two photos! My biggest fan painted them to match the covers 🥰🙏

Hey! It’s me. In exactly 24 hours, the 10 year anniversary party for my first book will begin. If you’ve seen my past posts, you might be thinking this is just for kids. But THIS post is asking YOU, my local friends, to come and join me in this celebration. You can be a kid for a few hours too. Hope to see you there. -Allie😊🦥📚
