Dearest KF Equine family,

We want to share an important update regarding our rehabilitation services and conditioning programs.

After three years of operating our underwater treadmill program, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close the water treadmill portion of our facility to the public.

This decision applies only to the underwater treadmill program and does not affect any of our other services.

Due to rising operating expenses, increased maintenance costs, and significant increases in insurance rates, we can no longer offer this service at the level of care our clients deserve without substantially increasing prices. Rather than pass those costs on to our clients, we have chosen to discontinue the program.

We are incredibly grateful to the many clients who have trusted us with their horses and supported our facility over the past three years. It has been a privilege to be part of so many recovery journeys and performance goals.

Our commitment to our patients remains unchanged.

We will continue to offer sports medicine, chiropractic care, acupuncture, rehabilitation consultations, and cremation services as normal.

Thank you for your trust, support, and loyalty. We are honored to be part of your horses’ care and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future.

— Dr. Kally & Dave

💜 WHEN THE TIME COMES 💜

One of the hardest parts of loving a horse is knowing that someday we may have to say goodbye.

Whether your horse is young and healthy, entering their senior years, or facing a medical challenge, having a plan in place before an emergency occurs can bring peace of mind when emotions are at their highest.

To help horse owners prepare, we’ve created a free resource:

📖 “When the Time Comes: A Gentle Guide for Equine End-of-Life Planning”

This guide covers:
✔ What to do if a horse passes unexpectedly
✔ What to expect during euthanasia
✔ Cremation and burial options
✔ Questions to ask an aftercare provider
✔ Memorial ideas and keepsakes
✔ Grief support and planning ahead

Our hope is that this guide provides comfort, clarity, and practical information during a difficult time.

We encourage every horse owner to download a copy and keep it with their important horse records—even if you hope you won’t need it for many years.

⚠️ IMPORTANT PRESCRIPTION POLICY UPDATE ⚠️

We have recently become aware of an increasing number of prescription errors, delays, and medication concerns involving third-party pharmacies and suppliers such as Chewy, Valley Vet, and similar companies. These issues can include incorrect medication requests, dosage discrepancies, outdated prescription information, and communication errors that are outside of our control once processed through outside vendors.

While we will not outright decline prescription approvals through third-party pharmacies, effective immediately we will require clients to sign a release acknowledging and accepting the risks associated with purchasing medications through facilities we are not directly affiliated with before prescription requests will be approved.

Our primary concern is always patient safety and ensuring your horse or pet receives the correct medication as prescribed.

For clients needing medications filled outside of the office, we do offer a trusted online pharmacy option through Vetsource. Vetsource is directly integrated with our veterinary software and patient medical records, allowing for improved prescription accuracy, streamlined approvals, and better continuity of care.

We appreciate your understanding as we continue working to provide the safest and highest quality care possible for our patients

One of the greatest honors of what we do is helping owners say a peaceful goodbye to a horse who meant everything to them.

These horses are partners, teachers, and family.

Being trusted in those final moments is something we never take lightly.

📅 Now is the ideal time to scope, diagnose, and treat gastric ulcers before training ramps up.

Now is the time to start thinking about ulcers before the riding and show season is in full swing!

Just because your horse isn’t showing obvious signs doesn’t mean ulcers aren’t there. Many horses continue to eat well, maintain weight, have a shiny hair coat, and perform beautifully—even with underlying gastric ulcers.

The horse pictured here was scoped as a precaution ahead of her first show in a few weeks. Her owner had zero complaints—she was happy, in great condition, and riding wonderfully.

Preventative care and early detection can make a big difference in performance, comfort, and overall health. If you’d like to be proactive heading into the season, now is a great time to check!
