Fireworks already started in the US, and on through the weekend after New Years! Fireworks start even earlier world wide!

So a nice, quiet Christmas Day evening was shattered, by fireworks. Not only were they close by, they were at the house directly behind ours, at 6.40pm, sigh.

Amaya is a confident dog who is not concerned by anything, except fireworks. The first time it happened she burrowed through a pile of boxes and small items in the under stairs cupboard and went right to the back, lying there shaking, for absolutely ages. We had to empty everything out of the cupboard to be able to help her get out, as she couldn't get out by herself.

Now, thanks to TTouch, she shakes a little, but she doesn't dart off to a hiding place, she is concerned but not in a blind panic, thankfully - though it is still really sad to watch.

HUGE NEWS: Greyhound racing at Wentworth Park in Sydney will come to an end, with the state government announcing that the track will be demolished in late 2027.

In the last 18 months alone, hundreds of dogs have been injured on this one racetrack alone and 5 have been killed. All in the pursuit of gambling profits.

Animals Australia was among 25 organisations that urged NSW decision-makers to return Wentworth park to the community — where it belongs. Just this week, hundreds of caring supporters across NSW used our guide to write to members of parliament urging for this change. 📝

Today the Premier has announced the area will instead become community sporting grounds and a park, as the racing industry concedes ‘the world has moved on’.

Meanwhile, 11 tracks are closing all over NSW, legislation to ban greyhound racing is moving through parliament in Tasmania, and Western Australia just held an inquiry into the industry.

Ending racing at this notorious racetrack is another big step towards a future where greyhounds are treated with the kindness and dignity they deserve. 🧡🐾
