Intake of some RES turtles today that were seized from someone who decided to take them from the wild as babies- ladies and gentleman I am BEGGING you do not do this. Something that many of us do as children, I myself in childhood used to take animals home and keep them to observe- I learned the hard way that this way of thinking is so beyond wrong. I know they're cute and little (for now) but all you're doing is ruining their chance of having a normal healthy life. These turtles cannot be returned to the wild legally or responsibly once they've been captive- and now it is the responsibility of rehabbers like Radagast Reptile Rescue to find resources for them - FOR THE NEXT 20-50 YEARS. Red eared sliders a long with most species in Texas require a LOT of space, a LOT of properly maintained water- eventually a pond- , UVB lighting , a very large and hot basking spot, a specialized diet ect ect. When you take all of those parameters and replace them with a small box, you are creating a situation that I can only liken to a human being forced to live in a coat closet.

Please, if you or someone you know wants a pet turtle reach out to ANY reptile rescue (preferably ours but any will do) and they will help you with everything you need to know. We are inundated with turtles just like the ones in this case- and we're running out of places to put them.

ADOPT ME !
Hi! Im Genie the Chinese water dragon and I need an experienced home with lots of space to roam around in.

Genie has been with Radagast for three years now and we would love to find her forever home. She's spunky and active but also great with being handled which is rare for the species, she is curious and will jump out of the enclosure on to your hand when offered. Unfortunately three families have canceled on Genie for adoption. Why is it so hard to find her a home? Welp, like many of the animals we recieve here at Radagast, Genie's previous owners were inexperienced and missed a case of mouth rot before it caused permanent damage which left her with a unique facial abnormality. This doesn't slow her down one bit and it does not effect her care requirements, she just looks a little different. Chinese water dragons require a large area with clean water for swimming, and plenty of things to climb on. Here are some requirements for her adoption application, I hope she's right for you!

-a 5Ă—5Ă—3 minimum enclosure with a large fresh water area
- a diet of live insects and varied foliage
-a t10 UVB and heat lamp

PLEASE PM TO INQUIRE ABOUT GENIE

HAVE YOU SEEN ME?
Along the banks of Texas rivers and lakes? Or perhaps in your chicken coop? Or your backyard trees? Im the western rat snake ! I mean you no harm, I am not aggressive or venomous. If I'm around your chicken coop I'm only keeping out the rodents, for the low low price of maybe one or two eggs a week. I won't hurt your chickens I promise. If you see me around a body of water I'm only sunning or hunting, I won't jump in your kayak or tube, I swear. If you find me in your pool, I only wanted a drink, please help me out! Pleassssse dont trick me with wooden eggs or hurt me with a shovel. I am an important part of the Texas native ecosystem and I help keep pests and venomous snakes away, can we please co exist ?
