This was written by one of my rescue friends, Cynthia Susanne with Animal Angels Network out of Rogersville. Cynthia has seen it all! The worst of the worst. Many in rescue have, but few can eloquently put it into words like Cynthia has. Animals suffer abhorent living conditions, they're starved, suffer untreated injuries or sickness, literally eaten alive by infestation and a host of other heartbreaking situations. But be*******ty being the most recent and most outrageously disgusting. Humans are the animals in these cases.
This is how it happens..

This is a hard conversation..
For the last week, people have asked us how on earth something like this could happen
The question I keep coming back to is this:
Where do people think these dogs come from?
The dogs we rescued didn’t magically appear in a horrific situation.
At some point, someone gave away a puppy.
�At some point, someone sold a dog with no questions asked.
At some point, someone dumped a dog and drove away.�
At some point, someone decided they didn’t have time anymore.
At some point, someone looked the other way.
And that dog disappeared.
Most people worry that a dog they rehome might end up in a shelter.
The reality is much darker..
Because after years in rescue, I can tell you this with absolute certainty:
There are people looking for dogs for reasons you do not want to imagine.
Dogs are tortured, yes tortured, They are starved yes many dogs are starved� every single day. Good dogs are neglected and what we are dealing with right now dogs are sexually abused.
Not once in a million cases.�Not in some faraway place.�Not on the internet.�Not somewhere else.
Right here.
In our communities.
In our counties.
In our backyards.
The dogs we are dealing with are not the first victims we’ve seen, and sadly they won’t be the last.
That is why Animal Angels is so relentless about responsible placement.
That is why we beg people not to give animals away to strangers in parking lots.
That is why we ask questions.
That is why we require applications.
That is why we tell people to charge a rehoming fee, verify veterinary references, and make sure they know exactly where an animal is going.
Because once a dog disappears into the wrong hands, finding them again is nearly impossible.
I know this post is difficult to read.
Trust me, it’s far more difficult to live.
The public is seeing a glimpse of a world that rescuers, animal control officers, veterinarians, and law enforcement see far too often.
If there is one thing I hope people take away from this case, it’s this:
Please stop treating dogs as disposable.
Every puppy given away without thought.�Every dog dumped down a country road.�Every animal handed to a stranger because it’s easier than doing the hard work of screening.
Those decisions have consequences.
Some dogs will be okay.
But most won’t.
And the dogs we’re holding today are living proof of that.
They deserved better.
And every dog still waiting for a safe home deserves better too.
