Feeling pretty mad at myself today. I left half a loaf of bread in a ziplock bag on the counter when I left the house. Penny, when I was not back at the time she expected, ate it. Which would be annoying but not a big deal except it had a small amount of raisins in it.
We seem to be getting lucky in a few ways: it wasn't long before my husband came come and discovered what happened, we were able to get her to our wonderful vet within 30 minutes of the discovery, and so far there are no signs of toxicity.
My vet told me something I hadn't known, despite having taken a dog nutrition course, which is that dogs' sensitivity to raisin toxicity can vary pretty widely. There's no way to know ahead of time if your dog's toxic dose is 2 raisins or 200 so if your dog eats ANY raisins you should call your vet!
