BACK STREET KITTENS
Back Street Kittens was founded by Teresa Kern in Duluth, Georgia in Feb. 2019. We are a very small rescue that did what we could to help feral kittens and their moms. Since we started, we have saved about 200 kittens/cats. We have made the decision to no longer do any intake. We are becoming a sanctuary so the remaining BSK's will have a safe place to live out their life. If you have adopted from us and can no longer care for the cat, they need to be returned to us per the adoption contract. We will continue to help with community TNR by lending out traps and giving instruction on how to use them.

Another feral removed from the Lawrenceville colony this morning. Her name is Peanut. She was not happy and she let me know it!

Yesterday I took a cat to Gwinnett County Animal Control to be spayed. While there, I had a nice conversation with the gentleman that was doing the intake processing. I mentioned that part of what BSK does is lend traps to people for TNR. A few minutes ago, he called me. He has a man at animal control that needs to borrow a trap asap to bring in a cat and asked if I would be willing to lend a trap to him. I just happen to have the trap from yesterday in my car. The man lives in Buford and is on his way to my work location in Duluth to pick it up! That is what community working together looks like. See comments for pictures of the sweet little girls.

Forgot to get a picture this morning but the first trapped feral is out of the Lawrenceville colony this morning! The pretty little Calico let me know how truly pi**ed she was to finally be caught in a trap. Took her to animal control to be spayed and will pick her up this afternoon. She will be the first cat in the acclimation shelter! One more female still needs to be spayed. The rest will go straight to the shelter once they are trapped. I will post a picture of her this evening.

Started work on the acclimation cage for the ferals at the Lawrenceville colony. Will finish it tomorrow and start trapping on Monday morning

Looking for help to build an outdoor shelter!!!!!

The feeder and I will be putting up a outdoor cage/shelter tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 17) to house the remaining feral cats in the colony. If anyone would like to help, please meet us at Back Street Kittens in Dacula around 10 am.

The hope is that other rescues with barn cat programs will step up and take a cat or two each. So far, everyone has said no. If not, they will be acclimated to the new location, provided shelter, warmth, food and fresh water and when they are ready, they will be allowed to free roam.

We need 27 gallon storage containers, styrofoam coolers, tarps and monetary donations to help with providing the warm shelters needed for them.

We are a very small rescue that has converted to a sanctuary for the remaining BSK cats. This project is not something we would normally do but I have been helping with TNR in this colony for almost 2 years. I can't just let these cats suffer without a feeder to take care of them. So far, I have funded ALL the money out of my own pocket. I really could use some help as I can't afford to do this alone. The feeder has committed to continue to provide the food for this colony.

Felix is the last friendly cat in the colony in Lawrenceville. He was snagged early this morning by the feeder and he was reunited with his girlfriends. They are all happy to be together again. All 5 of these cats deserve to live the rest of their lives as loved family members. If you are interested in meeting and potentially adopting, please complete an adoption application on our website

This is KitKat. She is the 4th cat pulled from the colony in Lawrenceville. She is fearless. Not hiding, exploring and she has a calming effect on Reaper and Cheeta. She likes to be pet. She will be looking for a new home soon. If interested in adopting any of these cats, please complete an adoption application on our website.

The feeder was able to get Cheeta's sister this morning. Her name is Reaper (I didn't name her). She is scared but allowed me to pick her up out of the crate and hold her. She is more vocal than her sister. They both ate their breakfast this morning. That makes 3 out of the colony of 14. The first picture is Reaper and the 2nd Pic is Cheeta on the left and Reaper on the right. We could use your help. We need money to purchase an enclosure to house the remaining cats while they acclimate to their new home and the supplies to properly furnish it for them such as shelters.

I am currently at the colony in Lawrenceville with the feeder. Hoping to get 3 cats out of here today. Stay tuned! We still need help with the remaining cats.
