I just recently had a cat returned within 48 hours because she wasn't adjusting! The irony is......we had discussed this rule and she seemed to understand. Guess not. The cat is happy to be back with me.
Meow, Clowder!
Adopting a rescue cat is a beautiful act of compassion, but it’s also a journey. Many humans don’t realize how much time a rescued feline truly needs to feel safe. That’s where the 3-3-3 Rule comes in:
🐾 3 Days: To decompress
🐾 3 Weeks: To start settling in
🐾 3 Months: To feel truly at home
In the first few days, your new cat may hide, hiss, or seem disoriented. Don’t panic; it’s all part of the process. By three weeks, routines begin to form. After three months? You’ll start to see their true personality unfold.
Patience is the ultimate love language. Let them bloom in their own time, and you’ll earn a bond that’s deep, trusting, and unbreakable.
