Charlie was more than a horse you will never be able to forget. I clipped this sweet boy early in my professional clipping career when he was still of toddler age and I saw a young, bright eyed gelding with the biggest heart who was loved by his owner ready to get back into the saddle after returning to the sport as an adult. I was so excited that he was my very first “best turned out” award at a show following that clip. As time went by barn ownerships changed, and Cait Miller Burgess and I just landed in different places. I continued to notice and love the outstanding updates of Charlie since then, even if he was no longer on my clipping schedule. I watched him shatter all the growing OTTB stereotypes in ways beyond any expectations. His success did not stop in the T.I.P Championships every year, he cleaned up in the hunter ring at rated shows around the country at top venues and claimed top placings in classics and derbies standing his ground with warmbloods bred for the discipline. He showed the world how great thoroughbreds are, and he did it with Cait- the absolute best person he could have landed with. She loved him more than words. He was truly a family member. My heart is shattered by this loss. Charlie knew he was loved- and he will forever be remembered 🕊️
