This page is dedicated to the pets in need of the Athens area and our surrounding communities. We work closely with Animal Control Shelters in our area to rescue animals and save lives. We are a private non-profit and therefore receive no government or national funding. We rely solely on private donations from individuals, businesses, and groups. We also have a Spay & Neuter Clinic where we offer low-cost surgeries to the public and rescue groups. This affordable service helps people save more lives by spaying and neutering their pets. Our posts will include photos of adoptable animals, adoption photos, events, fundraisers, and news regarding our organization. Please feel free to leave positive comments and feedback. 💙 Tab 💙

Our resident gentle giant has been hitting the books, and apparently, he's going for valedictorian! Tab recently had a training session with our wonderful friend Adrianna, and this big boy absolutely knocked it out of the park. He showed off his skills with commands like sit, down, place, free, heel, and leave it, proving that there's a whole lot of brain behind those 120+ pounds of dog! Tab is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and we're so excited to see him continue making progress as we work with him.

At almost three years old, Tab is large, in charge, and full of love! He's an enthusiastic boy who can get a little excited meeting new people, but underneath all that energy is one giant softie. Because of his size and personality, Tab would do best in a calm, adult home without small children. He'd prefer to be your one and only pet, although he may do well with smaller, low-energy dogs with proper introductions.

And here's the exciting part! Tab's adoption fee is completely SPONSORED, AND Adrianna has generously offered TWO FREE training sessions to his future adopters! This is a wonderful opportunity to continue building on everything Tab has learned and help him settle into his new home with confidence.

💕 Iggie 💕

Meet Iggie, our almost one-year-old sweetheart who's already got some pretty impressive manners for such a young pup! This lovely lady is one of our newest canine arrivals, and she's been making a great first impression with her friendly personality and eagerness to please. Iggie already knows how to sit and is VERY treat-motivated, so we're thinking there's plenty more she could learn with a few tasty bribes! She's also a social girl who has done wonderfully around people of all ages, including kids, and has a positive history with most other dogs, although smaller pups aren't quite her cup of tea. With her sweet nature and willingness to learn, Iggie has all the makings of a wonderful companion!

🎾 Reggie 🎾

Meet Reggie, our one-year-old Lab mix with a personality just as big as those paws! He’s got some brains behind all that goofiness! Reggie already knows commands like “sit,” and with his serious appreciation for treats, he’s more than willing to keep learning. This playful guy would love a home where he can stay active, keep working on his puppy manners, and get plenty of attention from his favorite people.

💕 Inya 💕

Meet Inya, our newest 4-month-old puppy who has absolutely zero respect for personal space. This extroverted little lady is a social butterfly who LOVES meeting new people, playing, and collecting as much attention as physically possible. Inya is also quite the lap enthusiast, although she hasn't quite figured out that she's supposed to wait for an invitation before climbing aboard. If you're within kissing distance, consider yourself warned... she's coming for you!

HAPPY UPDATE: WE ARE BOTH ADOPTED!

🤍 Sandy & Lucy 🤍

Double the fluff, double the cuteness! Meet Sandy and Lucy, our newest one-year-old Pekingese girlies who are currently trying to figure out how they ended up in this strange new place! These adorable little ladies are still a bit shy as they adjust to shelter life, but with a gentle approach and a little patience, we're confident their personalities will start to shine. Both girls have experience around children and other dogs, and Lucy (our little black fluffball) is already showing us that she's the more outgoing of the two! Sandy is taking things a little slower, but we're excited to get to know both of these sweethearts as they settle in.

Sandy and Lucy are available for adoption separately, so whether you're looking for a shy little companion or a slightly more adventurous fluffball, come say hello and help us discover what makes each of them special! 🐾

🐾 Wishlist Wednesday! 🐾

This week's wishlist is a little bit of everything, but it all comes down to keeping our shelter animals happy, comfortable, and entertained! Our adoption team could use a few enrichment essentials for our feline and canine friends, and we'd love your help stocking up!

Churus (tube treats): Because the quickest way to a cat's heart is usually through a squeezable snack!

Feliway Calming Spray: For some of our more opinionated kitties who could use a little extra help relaxing.

Pumpkin Purée: Our dogs LOVE everything pumpkin! It's one of our favorite Kong stuffers and a great addition for pups with sensitive tummies.

💙 Dante 💙

Meet Dante, our 4-year-old doodle mix with a heartbreaking past and the sweetest heart. When Dante arrived at Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, he was underweight, and his coat was so severely matted that even walking had become painful. After coming into our care, he needed to be gently sedated so our veterinary team could carefully remove the painful mats and give his skin a chance to heal.

Despite everything he'd been through, Dante had only one thing on his mind: affection. Treats? No, thank you. This boy would much rather lean against you and soak up every gentle pet you're willing to give! He's an incredibly sweet, friendly soul who just wants to be close to someone who loves him.

Dante is now recovering in a loving foster home, where he's getting the care and comfort he deserves. He's still on his journey to feeling his best, but he's ready to find a family who will love him through it all. Interested in adopting Dante? 🩷 Missy 🩷

Meet Missy, one of our longest-resident canine friends and a girl who has fully embraced the free-spirit lifestyle. Missy is goofy, adventurous, and generally unconcerned with anything that might interrupt her good time. She can get a little excited when meeting someone new, but once she settles in, she’s more than happy to trade that enthusiasm for walks, cuddles, and quality time with her people.

There’s also a pretty smart brain behind all that silliness! Missy already knows sit, speak, and lay down, and her love of treats makes her eager to show off what she knows. Above all else, though, this girl LOVES being outside. Hiking trails, trips to the park, long walks, or simply exploring somewhere new... Missy would make a great companion for someone looking for an adventurous best friend who can cuddle up with them afterward.

🧡 Ella 🧡

Meet Ella, our beautiful 8-year-old lady who's still figuring out this whole shelter business! This gentle girl has had a little trouble coming out of her shell and currently prefers the quiet comfort of her litter box cubby, where she can observe the world from a safe distance. But don't let her hiding spot fool you! Ella has a very sweet side and will gladly accept gentle pets from anyone willing to take things at her pace.
