This Thankful Thursday, we'd light to highlight one of our wonderful volunteers, Kathy. Here's what Kathy has to say about volunteering with the ACAPL.🐾🌟
"My name is Kathy, and I am a volunteer. I am a transplant from upstate New York-- I moved to a hobby farm in Dorset in 2018, and I am a retired nurse. My hobbies revolve around helping at my church, working with my animals, and gardening.
I started volunteering at the APL after dropping a cat off the be neutered by PetFix. I saw a poster that said they needed volunteers and asked for more information. Melinda answered my questions and scheduled an orientation for the very next Saturday. There are a lot of things I have done: I have walked dogs, washed dishes, done laundry, and played with cats. I now mostly do transport. I pick up animals that need to go to the vet, to be groomed or even go to another rescue.
I never realized how much help is needed to give the animals a good quality of life while they are waiting for their forever homes. The best part of what I do is when I am transporting a dog and it is sitting on the seat next to me looking out the window wagging its tail, and you know it is enjoying the ride. I would tell anyone who is new to volunteering that there are so many things to do at the APL. If you like cats, let them know and you can work in the cat room. If you like little dogs there is something for you also. You can make a difference, just give it a try! I hope that someone reading this will volunteer. It is easy go to the website and click the link to volunteer."
Thank you, Kathy, for dedicating your time to helping the animals at the Animal Protective League! 🐱🐾🐶
