Tater is running out of chances to be seen.
He did everything we asked of him.
Tater completed his basic obedience training. He went to a home. He tried his best.
Unfortunately, the adoption wasn’t the right fit because the resident dog struggled with adding another sibling to the family.
Now he’s back at the shelter.
We see it all the time, and it’s heartbreaking. Dogs who finally get a taste of home life and then find themselves back in a kennel often change. The confusion sets in. The disappointment. The depression. The sparkle starts to fade.
We’re watching that happen to Tater, and we desperately want to stop it before he becomes just another dog waiting behind a kennel door.
Tater is a young shepherd mix with so much to offer. He’s smart, eager to learn, and has already completed professional basic obedience training. His future family won’t be doing it alone either—thanks to our partners at The Dog Wizard, Tater’s adopters will receive lifetime support to help him continue succeeding.
Tater is dog-social and enjoys canine companionship, but he’d do best with a dog that matches his play style and energy level. A similarly sized, active dog around his age would be ideal.
He’s not looking for perfection.
He’s looking for commitment.
A family willing to continue the work that’s already been started. A family willing to see him for more than a shelter dog. A family willing to make sure he never has to experience this heartbreak again.
Please share Tater. His next home needs to be his last. 🖤🐾
